"I can't believe it was you."

The mornings are always so surreal. I'm enveloped in a light as well as a quiet. Not many are awake during the morning, but I think I like that. People are too loud. As much as I didn't want to be fired from working at the store it suited me more. Looking out of the window, I hear the bedroom door creak.

Haida walks out of the room rubbing his eyes and yawning. "Morning babe. Anything for breakfast?" "Do you want me to make something?" I look over at him. "Nah, I can make something myself." He walks over and kisses me. "Ugh, morning breath," I say while grinning.

"Is everything okay?" I jump at his words. "Yeah, why?" "It's like you forgot I was here, and you've been solemn and long as I've seen you today." "I'm just thinking." He walks over and sits down next to me. "I'm all ears, tell me." "I've just been thinking. My dad, I mean you saw how he blew up when I came out to him. He's never been one for words, and I've been on the end of his outbursts before." He sits down next to me wrapping his arm around my shoulder. "Oh, Y/N.." He looks at me with pained eyes. I shrug off his arm and stand up walking towards the stove. "I mean it's fine, I'm still the amazing person you love today." I walk at him. "By the way, your food is starting to burn." He runs to the stove, turns over his omelet, and looks back at me.

"Are you sure you're okay?" "Of course. I'm going to go get ready for work, I will see you there." "Alright babe." I head out of the door with my work clothes on. Driving to work is bittersweet. I think about how Haida reacted and he might be right. My dad was my hero, but people always say never meet your heroes. By the time I get to work the day has become gloomy. I sit at my desk, slowly disconnecting from the rest of the world until Haida snaps me back to reality.

"Hey, I brought us lunch." "Thank you." I give him a weak smile before turning back to my computer with a monotone face. I feel bad as I can see the sadness on his face from the corner of my eye.

Lunch arrives, however, and I follow him to the break room. "Hey Y/N." Retsuko waves to me. I meekly wave back instantly feeling bad when she looks at me trying to read me. I didn't eat this morning so as sad as I am I graciously accept the food Haida brought for us. "So Haida, how are things between you and Y/N? I'm still waiting for my wedding invite." Fenneko looks over at him. He chokes, and canned coffee sprays out of his nose. I can't contain my laughter and Retsuko's face speaks confusion.

"You and Haida are dating?" Retsuko looks at me. "It was pretty obvious." Fenneko smirks. I roll my eyes but respond. "Yes, we're dating." "How long have you been dating?" "Since before I met you guys." Lunch break is over and we all head back to the office, and I'm spared the glances from them. As awkward of a situation as it was it helped to brighten my spirits. By some miracle, we finish work early and head out of the office. "Do all of you guys want to head out to get dinner?" "I'd be up for it," Fenneko says. "Count me in," Retsuko says. "I have to go home and get ready but I'll see you guys there." Haida takes his car and leaves. "Do you guys want to take my car?" "Nah I'll take mine but you should take Retsuko since she doesn't have one." "You didn't have to say that!" Her face flushes red. "It's ok I'm more than happy to." She follows me to my car and she debates sitting in the front or back.

"You can sit in the front if you want it won't be awkward I promise." "Alright then." She sits in the front and an awkward silence immediately falls over us. "Do we even know where we're going for dinner?" I grab my phone and text Fenneko asking her where we're going. She responds almost instantly suggesting a restaurant around 10 minutes away. I back out of the lot and drive off. When we arrive Fenneko waves to us from a table with 4 chairs. "I just thought it'd be better if I got a table for all of us and waited." "Thank you." "Is Haida on the way?" "Crap, I didn't tell him where." I shoot him a quick text with my location. We order food and make small talk until a certain someone ruins the occasion.
