Otto's PoV

I came to camp three days ago, and I still haven't been claimed by my dad. Of course, my dad must be Poseidon, god of the underworld and king of the gods. Everywhere I go, I hear about this guy named Percy Jackson. Wonder why? Maybe he's a son of some minor god like Nemesis or something who probably just killed one Empousa. That's nothing it comparison to what I have done, I escaped two hellhounds on my way here. (Annoying and dumb much?)

Anyways, today is 17th August, and everybody is busy preparing for some party for tomorrow. I wonder who it is for 'cause there's a banner saying, 'Happy Birthday'. I keep seeing people glance over towards me, as if they're worried about something happening. The only thing that they have to be scared of is how powerful I am.

I decide to go and spar with Clarisse. I see her sparring with some pretty girl. She must be a daughter of Athena, goddess of beauty. I watch as Clarisse tries to disarm the girl, but she dodges. Then the girl sends a blow and Clarisse takes advantage to disarm her. The girl yields. As the girl leaves, I come closer.

'Hey Clarisse, wanna spar? I'll go easy on you, so you don't lose.' I ask her, drawing out my sword, even though I can't hold it right.

'Maybe I should teach you how to hold your sword and teach you some basic moves first.' She replied back sassily.

I decided to straight on attack her, hoping to take her off guard and disarming her, when she just slashed at my sword and disarmed me. She forced me to yield. I kept telling her that I went easy on her so that she didn't feel bad about losing to a newbie.

The Next Day

Today's 18th August, the day everyone's been preparing for, though I still don't know why. I decide to ask someone about it, when I see the pretty girl from the day before. I learned her name was Annabeth.

'Hey Annabeth! What's with today's party?' I asked her walking towards her. She was reading another book. She reads too many of those.

'Huh?' She asked, not looking up. 'Oh, the party. It's Percy's birthday today and its the anniversary of the 2nd Titan war.'

That is odd. Isn't he the same guy who everyone talks about? Oh well, we'll wait and watch.

A Few Hours Later

Everyone was just adding the finishing touches to the party when a boy, no older than 10 came running to us.

'Quick everybody, he's here! And he's already wondering where everyone's gone. He's talking to Chiron, but he'll be back soon!'

'Hide everybody!' Shouted Annabeth, ducking behind a bush. We all hid, just as a 17-year-old, with the looks of a roman, came walking over, looking around confused.

Just then, everybody jumped out from their hiding spots and exclaimed, 'Happy Birthday Percy!' So this was Percy.

'Oh gods guys, do you celebrate everyone's birthday like this? Because this is awesome!' He exclaimed, looking at everyone there.

His eyes suddenly landed on me. 'What's your name? Are you a newbie?'

'My name's Otto, Otto Jones and yes, I am new here.' I replied. 'Who's your godly parent?' He asked me.

'Probably Poseidon, but I haven't been claimed yet.' I told him. His eyes darted all over me, and he had a calculating look in his eyes. Finally, he posed his next question.

'How old are you, Otto? You look about 15.' I noticed that everyone had a bit of fear in their eyes, as if fearing the effect my answer would have.

'I'm 16.' I replied. My answer had immediate effect on everyone, especially Percy. His eyes swam with rage, a storm brewing in them. Everyone else had even more fear in their eyes.

'Percy, calm down!' Annabeth called out to him, 'You can confront the gods about it later.' What did she mean about confronting the gods? And why was he so angry if I wasn't claimed?

'No, Annabeth.' He growled in anger, 'I save their butts once or twice, been their pawn countless times. But no, I ask for 1 thing, just one, for them to claim their children before they are 13, or the minute they step into camp. Hermes was right, gods never do change, no matter how much they try.'

Just then, Mr. D, the cam director came up to us. 'Wonderful speech, Peter Jhonson, we gods never do really change our ways, do we. But I don't think Olympus needs one of your rages right now, we've got plenty on our plate all ready. So I'll make this quick, don't go all 'Son of Sea' mode on me.'

Then, he pointed at me and said, 'Mine.' That simple word considerably lessened the anger in his eyes, and the campers let out a sigh of relief. Percy faced Mr. D.

'Took you long enough.' He said. But then came the most unexpected sentence of the day, by none other than Mr. D, or should I say, my father.

'Well then, what are we waiting for? Let's get this party started!' He exclaimed. (any better words I can use here?)

We partied for a long time, well into the night. But I guess that is to be expected, when you party with the god of parties.
