The Legend of Perseus the second

Sorry for the long wait guys, here's an extra-long chapter for you all! It's my longest yet. It both as compensation, and as bribery, since the next chapter may not be out till end-Feb, and it might be the normal length. My exams are starting in less then ten days, and I srsly need to study.

It was a normal day at camp half-blood. Campers practicing at the archery range, satyrs and Demeter kids tending to the strawberry fields, and Athena kids doing arts and crafts. Chiron sat in the big house, reminiscing times from all those years ago. The hunters of Artemis were coming today, for the next day was one of the most popular and important days at camp.

Every year, on the 18th of August, Chiron retold stories from nearly 200 years ago. Most years, the Hunters, who were still led by Thalia Grace, also made an appearance. Reyna and Thalia loved their time in the hunters, but often found it a downside that their friends would move on much before them.

To honour one former camper in particular, one who had been with them in good times and bad, one who had led them into so many battles and whom everybody kept dearly in their heart. Him, along with his friends, the renowned Heroes of Olympus. As Chiron sat in the big house, Reyna came in.

'Hey Chiron.' She said softly, not to startle the centaur.

'Hello Reyna. The hunters are here?'

'Yup. Thalia's going with them to set them all in in cabin 8. She told me to inform you.' She said. Then she continued a little softly, 'You miss them all, don't you?' Chiron slowly nodded.

'We all miss them too, especially Percy.' Not many people had seen the soft side of Reyna. She usually kept it hidden under the strong leader mask. Once she joined the hunters though, she didn't need to keep it on, so she slowly loosened up. 'But you, of all people should know that they're in a better place.'

Chiron smiled at the daughter of Bellona. Camp half-blood and camp Jupiter had strengthened their ties. Chiron had pulled some strings to create a portal between camps. Now, Romans and Greeks went between the camp on a daily basis.

The two went outside, then parted to go their different ways. Reyna went to cabin 8 to join the rest of the hunters, while Chiron went to the oracle's cave. All the stuff from the attic had been replaced there, in a small closed off area. The new oracle, a legacy of Apollo, lived there, but she wasn't here today.

Chiron walked (trotted?) into the cave. There were many unique things in the cave, each a tribute to the previous oracles who lived there. Many paintings were hung there, all made by Rachel, the first Oracle after Hades's curse was broken.

Chiron looked closely at one of the paintings, captioned the seven and friends. It was a painting Rachel had made a few weeks after the Giant war. Ten people had been painted: Percy, Annabeth, Jason, Piper, Frank, Hazel, Leo - the seven - along with Reyna, Thalia and Nico.

He removed the blinds from the closed off area. He saw a chest, which he hadn't seen before, and opened it. Taped on was the message, 'To Chiron, Peleus dug it out from under Thalia's tree.'

In the box, there was a pen, a bone sword, a dagger, a hammer, a gladius, a spatha, a bow, a skull ring and an envelope.

Chiron picked up the envelope with shaking hands. He had recognized all the objects in the box. He was curious about the envelope, but cautious too. He slid the letter out. It was written in various degrees of handwriting.

To whomsoever it may concern-

This time capsule was buried in the year 2057. I'm not sure that whoever is reading this knows who we are, so, I'll start.

My name's Annabeth, Annabeth Chase. Daughter of Athena.

My name's Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon.

I'm Piper McLean, daughter of Aphrodite.

Jason Grace, son of Jupiter, at your service.

The name's Leo, Leo Valdez. Flaming son of Hephaestus!

I'm Hazel Levesque, daughter of Pluto.

I'm Frank Zhang, son of Mars.

Finally, Nico Di Angelo here. Son of Hades.

Chiron pressed the big red button. A hologram appeared. The Seven and Nico were visible. All of them looked to be about 60. They were all standing in front of Thalia's tree, the whole of CHB visible in the background. The camp had changed a lot over the years. More cabins had been added, the area had been expanded. New Greece was built, which was practically the Greek New Rome.

'Hello, whoever's watching this. We've gathered here to tell you about some events that haven't really been mentioned a lot, even among us.'

Chiron watched the whole video, portraying different emotions as many stories were retold. He decided to show the video the next day.

All the campers, along with the hunters, had gathered in the amphitheater. Many eyed the box kept in the middle with curiosity, some with apprehension, as if it might explode any minute. Some campers were known for playing tricks like that.

Chiron entered the amphitheatre.

'As you all know, we have gathered here for 2 reasons. 1- to honour the fallen heroes of the second Titan war, and 2- to honour Perseus Jackson. For those who don't know, Percy Jackson was the demigod son of Poseidon, and one of the most powerful demigods in a long time. He was also the best swordsman in 500 years.'

'Though now, in the mortal realm, there are only two people who've known him well, who I'd like to call up with me. Please welcome, Thalia and Reyna!'

After the two hunters had introduced themselves, Chiron, Reyna and Thalia, retold Percy's quests.

'-and then, he summoned a big wave from the little Tiber and it crashed all over the gorgons!'

Next, Chiron opened the chest, that had been forgotten about till now.

'Thalia, Reyna, I think you might recognize these objects.' He said to the two girls. He took each item out, and their eyes widened, and tears welled up in their eyes, albeit quite unnoticeable.

Chiron faced the audience. He picked up a pen. 'This is Riptide, also known as Anaklusmos. This was Percy's primary weapon.'

Picking up a dagger he said, 'this dagger, known as Katoptris, was the primary weapon of Piper McLean.'

'This drakon-bone sword, used to be in possession of Annabeth Chase.'

'Juno's Gladius, given by her to her champion, Jason Grace.'

'A spatha, which was Hazel Levesque's primary weapon.'

'A bow, gifted to Frank Zhang by Mars.'

'A hammer, one of the many used by Leo Valdez. An unconventional weapon, but effective for him nonetheless.'

'And finally,' Chiron said, picking up a skull ring, 'the Sword of Nico Di Angelo.'

He read aloud the few lines written in the letter, before showing the whole audience the hologram message, which had increased its size to be visible throughout the crowd, another feature of the holograms.

The whole program was a big success. That was the main show, but upon the requests of campers for many years, such story-telling sessions were now held twice or thrice in August.

Thalia and Reyna were talking amongst themselves. 'I honestly think we should replace Percy with the original Perseus, he's done more than him and Hercules combined!'

Reyna smiled sadly. 'Yeah. Happy 306th birthday Percy. Hope you're having a nice time in Elysium with the others.'
