As the sun reached its highest point in the sky, Qing Yi awoke alone in his chamber. It seemed Ming Zhe had risen and departed without Qing Yi noticing. He recalled Ming Zhe's words about leaving for the Harmony Summit of the allied kingdoms the next day with the King. Qing Yi quickly donned his apothecary attire and was about to make his way to the Apothecary Study to prepare potions and oils for the Crown Prince's journey.
Abruptly, a soft, familiar voice emanated from behind him. "Young master." It was none other than Jun Lang.
"Jun Lang," Qing Yi greeted warmly, turning to face his steadfast companion. "As expected, you're always right on time, never a second late."
"Of course," Jun Lang replied, "just as you instructed. I searched for Wen Ning, assisted with the construction as much as I could, and returned precisely a week after I sent Wen Ning to you."
Qing Yi's smile was genuine. "How is the progress of the town's construction?" he inquired casually, making his way over to a nearby tea table, where he settled into a chair.
"We're nearly finished," Jun Lang affirmed confidently. "Following your plan, we've even set up your own residence by the riverside, near the town's back entrance. I believe it will meet your expectations."
Qing Yi's smile extended to his eyes as he continued the conversation. "And what of my sister and mother? Are they content with the new town?"
"They are, young master," Jun Lang replied with enthusiasm. "And so are the rest of the young folks. We can't wait for you to witness the town."
Pouring tea into two cups, Qing Yi leaned in. "I, too, am eager to see it, but alas, it's Jing Xiang's turn to return home this time. I won't be able to visit for a while."
Hesitating for a moment, Qing Yi couldn't contain his curiosity and posed another question. "Did you happen to encounter the Clan Leader Lan?"
Jun Lang took a seat beside Qing Yi, sipping his tea thoughtfully before responding. "I did indeed. He, along with his brother and several Lan disciples, lent invaluable aid during the town's construction."
Qing Yi's smile grew even warmer as he spoke of the Lan sect. "I heard as much from Wen Ning. It warms my heart that they not only harbor no hostility but extend a warm welcome. They are truly good people, and I feel fortunate to have found them."
Jun Lang couldn't help but notice the contented tone in Qing Yi's voice, particularly when he spoke of the Clan Leader. He filed this observation away for later consideration.
Continuing the conversation, Qing Yi said, "Regarding my sister, do you sense that she gets along well with Clan Leader Lan?"
Jun Lang appeared slightly taken aback, as if he had just uncovered Qing Yi's underlying intention. He reflected on the numerous occasions he had glimpsed Jing Shi and Lan Xichen together.
"To be honest," Jun Lang began, "I didn't pay much attention to their interactions, but I do recall seeing them together quite frequently whenever I happened to catch sight of Ms. Jing Shi."
A fleeting shadow of sadness crossed Qing Yi's face, but he swiftly regained his composure. Jun Lang continued, "Furthermore, Clan Leader Lan inquired about your return the first time he saw me."
Jun Lang glanced at Qing Yi, searching for any reaction, but Qing Yi remained composed, a gentle smile adorning his features.
"Well actually," Jun Lang added, "both Clan Leader Lan and your mother asked about your return when I first arrived there. They were eager to know when you would come back."
Qing Yi's gentle smile persisted as he nodded. Jun Lang noticed his unwavering gaze and decided to share more. "I informed them that, with the Crown Prince's return to the palace and your presence being required, there's no telling when you can come back." He emptied his tea cup.
