Before noon, Lan Xichen and his companions arrived in Qinghe. In the wake of Jin Guangyao's demise, Nie Huaisang, the leader of the Nie Clan, embraced a renewed sense of responsibility. With the Chief Cultivator seat left vacant, Nie Huaisang aspired to elevate his efforts, driven by a profound commitment and the desire to make a lasting impact. Under his leadership, the Impure Realm City of Qinghe underwent a remarkable transformation, a reflection of both his duty-bound dedication and his ambitions for the now-open Chief Cultivator position.
As Lan Xichen gazed upon the Impure Realm Castle, he couldn't help but notice the changes that had taken place over the years. The Nie's Castle had undergone a striking transformation since his last visit. What was once an imposing fortress had metamorphosed into a captivating masterpiece. Its exterior boasted intricate carvings and vibrant paintings, a reflection of Nie Huaisang's passion for art and aesthetics. The walls were embraced by climbing vines, melding natural beauty with architectural splendor.
The captivating front garden of Nie's Castle held Yu Yan and Jing Shi spellbound. Meticulously designed landscapes showcased a vibrant tapestry of flowers and majestic trees. Fragrant blossoms danced in harmony with the rustling leaves, infusing the air with a refreshing vitality. Serene stone pathways meandered through the gardens, leading them toward the grand entrance of the castle. The group's arrival was met with a warm and enthusiastic reception from Clan Leader Nie, none other than Nie Huaisang himself. His excitement knew no bounds, especially upon encountering Yu Yan and Jing Shi, both of whom left him captivated by their ethereal beauty.
"Xichen Ge-Ge, Hanguang Jun, thank you for gracing us with your presence," Nie Huaisang greeted Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji, his voice filled with genuine delight. His eyes then turned to Yu Yan and Jing Shi, admiration shining through. "And what exquisite, almost otherworldly elegance you both possess. I extend my warmest welcome to Qinghe, Tribe Leader Koeh, and Lady Koeh."
Yu Yan responded with graciousness, her radiant smile causing a charming flush to rise in Nie Huaisang's cheeks. "Your invitation is most appreciated, Clan Leader Nie."
Nie Huaisang, ever the gracious host, continued, "We've prepared comfortable rooms for your rest. If you would be so kind as to follow me."
With that, he led Yu Yan and Jing Shi, who maintained their bright smiles, toward their accommodations.
Jing Shi turned her attention to Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji, who had followed them to their rooms. As they entered their respective chambers, Nie Huaisang extended a welcoming gesture, urging them to settle in comfortably, and assured them of an evening banquet to look forward to. The official Discussion was scheduled for the following day.
Just before Jing Shi entered her room, she exchanged a meaningful glance with Lan Xichen. He seemed to anticipate her unspoken question and responded with a warm smile.
"Our rooms are right next to yours," Lan Xichen assured her, his voice gentle and reassuring. "I'll come to escort you to the banquet when the time comes. Please, take some rest for now."
With that, Lan Xichen retired to his room, accompanied by Lan Wangji, leaving Jing Shi to prepare for the upcoming evening gathering.
Lan Xichen entered his shared room with his brother Lan Wangji, quietly taking his place on the opposite side of the tea table. He joined Lan Wangji in their meditative practice. After some time, Lan Wangji gently opened his eyes and observed his older brother.
Despite Lan Xichen's return to his usual composed and smiling demeanor, Lan Wangji still detected a hint of restlessness lingering within him.
"Are you feeling better now, brother?" Lan Wangji inquired, his concern evident.
