In the midst of mid-morning, Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji concluded their morning meeting. Lan Xichen expressed his intention to visit Gusu Sylvatica to check on Qing Yi, and Lan Wangji joined him, sharing the same concern. As the brothers strolled towards Gusu Sylvatica, Lan Wangji reflected on the previous day's events.

"Qing Yi risked his life just to retrieve the pearl you gave him. It was... remarkably reckless, yet it also speaks volumes about his dedication to safeguarding your gift," Lan Wangji remarked.

A smile played on Lan Xichen's lips. "He... surprised me as well. I knew he cared for me, but I never realized the depth of his feelings."

Observing his brother's faint smile, Lan Xichen let out a light chuckle. "You seem to be smiling more often lately. Is my situation providing you with some amusement?" he inquired.

Lan Wangji gently shook his head. "It's just... I've come to see that Qing Yi's love for you is so pure. It saddens me, for he can never openly express it to you."

Lan Xichen paused, his steps slowing, and he furrowed his brow. His mind wandered to his own circumstances, the weight of his responsibilities, and the constraints of his position.

Lan Xichen shared his inner turmoil with Lan Wangji, seeking guidance. "What should I do, Wangji? I am fully aware of my responsibilities, but I can't bear the thought of letting go of Qing Yi. I tried distancing myself, yet it's proven to be far more challenging than I anticipated." He revealed his dilemma, a rare instance in which he couldn't easily find a solution.

Lan Wangji offered solace, placing a reassuring hand on his older brother's shoulder. "You could follow your head, be driven solely by your duty, and disregard Qing Yi's feelings due to your position in the clan. However, knowing your compassionate nature, such a heartless choice is beyond you," Lan Wangji said, offering a gentle smile. "Alternatively, we can seek a middle ground where these two choices can coexist harmoniously. I believe that would be the best course of action."

Lan Xichen's smile reflected the relief he felt knowing that his younger brother shared his sentiments. Finding that middle ground would indeed be a challenge, requiring extensive brainstorming and negotiations. Setting this notion aside for now, the brothers arrived at Gusu Sylvatica. To their surprise, two horses stood in front of the Hospital building: one belonging to Prince Kai Ze and the other to Qing Yi. Wen Ning was ready and waiting to depart, while Jing Xiang handed Qing Yi's bag to Wen Ning.

Emerging from the hospital entrance, Wei Wuxian walked beside Qing Yi and Yu Yan, his voice laden with both objection and heartfelt concern.

"But he's obviously still unwell. Look at him; he can barely walk on his own," Wei Wuxian protested to Yu Yan, pointing to Qing Yi.

Qing Yi was wrapped in warmer attire, and his head was shielded by a green hood attached to his outer robe. He was further cocooned in a thick blanket. Although his complexion had improved compared to the previous day, a lingering paleness still clung to him, hinting at the tenacity of his fever.

Supporting Qing Yi on one side, Yu Yan calmly explained to Wei Wuxian, "Qing Yi requires a warmer environment for a full recovery. Gusu's Winter is drawing near. Remaining here would not only worsen his condition but could also jeopardize his life."

Gathered at the entrance of the Koeh Tribal Hall, the group welcomed the approaching Lan brothers with customary politeness. Lan Xichen's gaze immediately found Qing Yi as he exchanged greetings with them, asking, "Good morning, everyone. What is happening here?"

Relieved to see Lan Xichen, Wei Wuxian exclaimed, "Ah, Ze Wu Jun! You've arrived just in time. Could you please step in and put an end to this rather unwise decision?"
