S: Pistachio please, sir.

WY: Bruh you really sound like a kid with that little voice of yours.

S: Oh, did I grow up overnight? Did I go from being a baby to a child?

WY: Yeah, soon it'll be adolescence my god, I'm not ready for it - he made me laugh.

The ice cream vendor handed us our ice creams which we grabbed eagerly thanking him.

S: This neighborhood's nice, wanna take a walk?

WY: Yep - he replied starting to eat his ice cream.

I did the same.

S: Damn, this is good.

WY: Told you. Come on, let me taste the pistachio.

I handed him my ice cream and he took a bite.

WY: Oh wow, next time I'm getting this - he said offering me his vanilla ice cream.

I tried it in return.

S: Vanilla and pistachio go well together.

WY: Totally.

S: By the way, were you born in Daegu?

WY: Yeah, I grew up in this neighborhood. It'll feel weird the day I have to move to another city. And you, were you born here too?

S: No, in Seoul. I moved when I was 10.

WY: Oh really, in Seoul?? I definitly thought you were from Daegu!

It's in moments like these that I remember I've known Wooyoung for only four months. Sometimes, it really feels like we've always been friends.

I wonder how close we'll be in a few years. I wonder what it'll be like once time has been added to our friendship.

Maybe we'll be a couple. Maybe I won't be in love with him anymore. Perhaps we'll be the best friends in the world. Or we might not be friends at all.

I wish these moments with him could last forever. I wish this summer could last forever.

S: By the way, next week I'm going on vacation with my parents and sister for a month. So we won't be able to see each other for a long time - I said in a sad tone.

WY: What?? Nooo, I'll miss you too much! Where you guys going?

S: Jeju Island.

WY: Damn, lucky.

S: We'll have to try to meet up with the guys before I leave.

WY: Yeah, for sure. We'll see with them, I have something planned on Tuesday but the rest of the week should be good.

S: Okay, perfect.

We continued our little tour chatting and enjoying our ice creams.

To keep it short, we went back home and lazed around in his room before motivating ourselves to dance until evening. We tried to learn a Blackpink choreo but in reality we did more goofing around and gushing over the idols than dancing. But it's okay. We had a good laugh.

We then had dinner and watched a movie in Woo's room. A horror movie. Wooyoung crushed my hand. He's really a scaredy-cat but I'm no better so I'll shut my mouth.

We finally went to bed once the movie was over. As tradition dictates, Wooyoung curled up around me like an oyster to its rock. Even though oysters don't have arms.

I felt him squeeze me tighter than usual.

WY: I hate clowns - he muttered, his voice half-muffled by his pillow.

S: Oh... don't say that to the one behind you, he might take it the wrong way.

WY: STOP. - he exclaimed giving me a hit while I laughed, amused by his reaction.

S: I'm kidding, the only clowns here are us. And we're nice, right? Not like the one in the movie. So you've got nothing to worry about, right Wooyoungie?

WY: Why're you talking like to a three-year-old?

S: The answer's in the question.

He hit me again.

WY: Asshole!

I laughed joyfully. He doesn't but I know he's amused. I feel him smiling.

I started humming a children's lullaby as if to help him fall asleep.

S: Hush little baby, don't say a word...

WY: You're really a little jerk, you know that? - he said laughing.

S: Yeah, I know.

As planned, my mom picked me up at 11 am. I'm sad to leave but you shouldn't overdo good things.

It's like pistachio ice cream, if you eat too much you end up with a stomachache.

I said goodbye to Wooyoung and his mom thanking them for their hospitality, then left the house. I can't wait to cross that door again.

I can assert without exaggeration that these two days were among the best of my life. Sleep in the arms of your crush, you'll know what I mean.

Even though I sometimes surprise myself imagining Wooyoung and me going further... (cf: 🫦), I don't feel the need for it to materialize that much. At least, I'm not in a hurry.

The way we are like this suits me perfectly for now. It's exhilarating to live with this ambiguity between us. It makes me vibrate every time I feel that he likes me too.

In the car on the way back, I opened Instagram and posted a photo I took with Woo yesterday.

I admired the photo for a few more seconds then locked the screen. I barely had time to look at the landscape passing by the window when I felt my phone vibrate in my hand.

I looked up, gazing again through the car window. I had a blank stare. And a gentle smile glued to my face.
