S: How hungry are you from the lunch we had? - I asked still on the road.
WY: Mmmh... not very hungry.
S: Okay, we'll have a light dinner then.
WY: Will your parents be there?
S: Yeah but we'll eat on our own don't worry.
WY: Well, I wouldn't mind, I found them nice. It's been a long time since I saw them!
S: Yeah, 5 years actually!
WY: Do they remember me?
S: Of course, they think it's great we've reconnected!
WY: That's true.
S: Alright, we're there!
WY: Yes! My surprise! My surprise!
S: Did you actually turned 3 today?
WY: Yeah, I'm growing up fast huh?
S: Come on - I said getting out of the car.
Wooyoung followed me and we entered the house. He greeted my parents and they chatted for a while before I finally suggested showing Wooyoung his gift.
S: Close your eyes.
WY: Oh, really? This is serious.
S: Yes it is - I said standing behind him and placing my hands on either side of his waist to guide him. Let yourself be guided - I let go as I opened the door in the kitchen that led to the back of the house.
WY: This is scary! Wait, are we going outside??
S: Yeah. No cheating, okay?
WY: No, don't worry.
As I mentioned before, my parents' house is on the outskirts of Daegu with its back facing the countryside. We ventured into the large garden and I led Wooyoung to his surprise.
WY: Holy shit San... Where the hell are you taking me...
S: It's okay, we're here.
WY: Can I open my eyes??
S: No, wait 2 seconds here!
I let go of him for a moment.
S: Okay, you can open them now - I said after positioning myself next to him.
He opened his eyes slowly and I observed his reaction closely.
WY: Oh my god... San... This is incredible?
I just smiled ear to ear.
WY: Tell me we're gonna watch Howl's Moving Castle??
I'd set up a small improvised tent made up of sheets I had hung between trees. I'd placed a mattress on the floor and adorned it all with colorful garlands. In front of the tent entrance, I had hung a white sheet ready for a movie night.
S: Of course we are!
WY: But do you have a projector?
S: Here, a gift - I said handing him the projector I'd ordered a few days ago.
WY: Oh man... You're awesome - he said hugging me. Thanks a lot Sannie!
S: We're gonna be so comfortable here, I couldn't wait either.
WY: You did go all out, did you build the cabin and everything? - he asked approaching to take a closer look.
S: Of course, what do you think!
WY: I'm a real fan, honestly I didn't expect something this cool. Plus, you remembered that I told you it's my dream.
S: Does that deserve a kiss? - I asked giving him a proud smile.
He looked at me and returned a big smile. I turned my head to show him my cheek, tapping it with my finger. He approached me, placed one hand on my chin, the other on the back of my head, and pressed his lips forcefully against the cheek I offered him.
After a few seconds, he pulled away with a beautiful "Mwaaah."
S: Beautiful.
WY: Come on, let's watch the movie now!
S: Wait, come with me get some snacks. And we can put on our pajamas now, it'll be more comfortable.
WY: Oh yeah, definitly!
We were back 10 minutes later ready for the evening with chips, candies, and popcorn in hand. I know, today's meals aint really healthy!
Wooyoung settled into the tent while I set up the movie on the projector.
WY: Wow, it's so cozy.
S: It's starting! - I said settling in with him under the blanket.
WY: It looks so gooood!! Saaan this is fucking amazing!!! Gotta take a photo - he said making an Instagram story.
The movie started slowly and we exclaimed "woooow" in admiration every 5 seconds because we were so good here. It's even better than at the cinema. 1000 times better.
The night enveloped our cabin in its gentle darkness and we were there in our cocoon, under the shining stars, illuminated by the warm lights of the garlands and the projector.
We were leaning against our pillows eating our "dinner." We watched the movie without a sound, fascinated and soothed by the atmosphere. It's the first time we've watched a movie in such peace.
As the movie progressed, we pressed against each other, our contact adding to the comfort of this place.
The movie passed by quietly and we didn't miss a single moment.
WY: Oh nooo it's over...
S: It was so damn gooood.
WY: San, look at the stars!! We can see them so well! - he exclaimed as I turned off the projector, almost plunging us into darkness.
S: Yeah, we always see them so well here on summer nights. Do you wanna lie down the other way for a while and watch them?
WY: Definitly.
We set our pillows at the other end of the mattress and lay down after turning off the garland, letting our heads stick out through the entrance of the tent.
Lying there, we had a perfect view of the vast starry sky.
WY: It's incredible. I've never seen so many stars.
S: It's so beautiful...
We stayed there, gazing at them, with no sense of time. As if the world around us no longer mattered. And I think it doesn't. At least, not at this moment.
Tonight, it's Wooyoung, the stars, and I. Nothing else. No one else.
Conclusion of chapter 50: It deserved a kiss.
