Warning: depressive thoughts, manipulation

The days passed. His health condition did not change. The king was depressed. He was thinking about all sorts of things, or rather one thing, death. Why is it like that? It's all because of him. They are dead along with him. Everything is because of him from the very beginning.
He still couldn't walk. At least he was fed now.
Macaque, as a loyal warrior, looked after his king day and night. With breaks to manage the kingdom. The people were concerned about the king's condition. Macaque informed them that the king was currently very ill, and incapable of ruling (as an added bonus).
They prayed that their beloved ruler would recover and that they could see him as they remembered him, a being full of energy with a smile on his face.
Now Wukong was definitely the opposite of himself. Even he himself doesn't remember himself from years ago, when everything was simpler and the consequences were unimportant.
Does anyone care about him?
At least there is his friend, Macaque, who cares for him very much.
What he experienced was real or just a figment of his imagination? Wukong still feels strange... he can't walk, his conscience is torn by remorse, making him want to... end himself, but does he have the courage to do it? Does he have the strength to go in such a drastic direction? In addition, he is protected by his layers of immortality.

Sometimes it happens that the king suddenly has a panic or fear attack, which has never happened before. Most often this happens at night. When darkness covers everything. Then his only salvation is Macaque, who, of course, sleeps with the king to be able to help him in any situation. The best part is that the entire kingdom knows that they are a couple, but does Wukong himself know it? In his current state he is unaware of this. His senses and thoughts are slowed down and dull.

Coming back to nightmares, this is one example of a night.
There is darkness in the room. Wukong's eyes snap open. He can't see anything. Darkness. His pulse quickens. His breathing becomes uneven. He starts panting. His forehead begins to sweat. All he sees is darkness. He doesn't hear anything. He lies motionless. He is paralyzed with fear. It's there again. It's there again. Tears start to flow down his cheeks. There's nothing he can do. It is dark. He starts to hear a rumbling sound, but it's only the sound of his heart. His head starts to hurt. Not that again. Doesn't want. He won't last. He starts sobbing. He doesn't want that. He doesn't want to experience the same thing again. He's trapped. He begins to suffocate. He cannot control his emotions.
Macaque suddenly wakes up. The light was starting to shine. He sees the devastated king. The sight of him acting like a drug on him. He gently takes his king into his arms. he starts petting him. he tenderly cares for his hair and combs it with his fingers. He started whispering reassuring words.
"Breathe. Focus on your breathing. I am here for you. I am here. I will always be with you. You are safe with me."
After a while, the king begins to calm down, but is unable to fall asleep again. The king rests his head on the warrior's chest.
Now is the best time.
"Sunshine, I will always be there for you. You know that, right?"
Wukong regains consciousness for a moment. He nods.
"You're only safe with me. Do you understand?"
Wukong nods.
"Say"
Macaque comes closer to the king's ear. "You are only safe with me. Repeat." he spoke with love and tenderness.
Macaque gently touches Wukong's neck. He starts massaging.
"I'm…I'm with…..only…with you……safe," the king choked.
Macaque gently touches the king's cheek.
"It'll be fine. You'll get better."
And this is what their nights look like.
Wukong begins to absorb the sweet lies.
Trusting them more and more.
Feeling the need for care.
The need to forget the pain.
The need to be loved.
And Macaque provides it all. Is this sincere? For Wukong, yes.
He needs it. And the warrior is excessively satisfied with the results of his work. Wukong's addiction to the warrior. It's a wonderful feeling. Knowing that only he could ease the king's pain. Having power over the king's mind.
