The Auction

The auditorium was packed with people as we tried to find an empty spot for us to sit. The lights were bright and it was loud as people spoke to one another as they waited for it to begin.

"This place is full of people." I say, "I'm a bit overwhelmed."

"It's a good thing we dressed up. Otherwise we would be standing out," Killua comments.

"We're standing out anyway," I mutter as I feel eyes on me.

"Well people aren't used to seeing kids here," Zepile reasons.

"Oh look at those two."

"Do you think they're dating?"

Gon and I looked at each other for a moment in confusion before noticing our still linked arms. We laughed at the scenario that was presented before us.

"They're not together." I hear Killua say behind us, supposedly to the couple who suggested we were.

We continued to descend the staircase, only to spot Phinks and Feitan dressed up and waiting for the auction to begin.

I felt the wind blow past me as Gon dragged me out of the auditorium with Killua beside us.

"Why are they here?!" Gon yells.

"How would I know?!" Killua responds.

"Don't ya'll think this is a bit extra?" I add.

We come to an abrupt stop when we see Feitan in front of us and Phinks behind us.

"That was a bit rude." Phinks says, "there's no reason to run away."

"Don't worry. We aren't going to kill you," Feitan assures.

"It's because we can't kill the chain user now," Phinks explains.

"Hm? What do you mean?" Gon asks.

"Nen doesn't disappear after you die. Nen that's driven by revenge and hatred can persist after death. Nen will direct itself toward the target of those emotions. Since the boss can no longer use Nen, he could be overwhelmed by that assault," Phinks goes on to explain.

Woah, what? Since when could their leader not use Nen? What the hell did they do?

"Anyway, we came to just enjoy the auction." Phinks says walking towards Feitain, "the other members wanted to go home."

"And what happened to Pakunoda?"

"She died...Pakunoda wanted to thank you two."

We returned to the auditorium and sat through many (un)wanted items before finally, Greed Island appeared before us.

"Let's take a look at the mysterious power that the game contains," the auctioneer says as a man with a mallet walks onto the stage. The mallet swings and breaks the table, but not the game as gasps are heard around us.

"As you can see, there is a mysterious power surrounding the console." The auctioneer snaps her fingers as the screen behind her shows a man. "This is Jeitsari. He is a player who's inside the game at the moment. When a player is inside, the console cannot be damaged."

Oh that's nice. There's nothing to worry about then.

She then goes on to explain that Jeitsari brought the console in, and made a contract with the auction house. Apparently if the game was failed to be cleared by the date stated, seven copies would be sent out for younger Hunters to try.
