HOW CAN A MORNING BE SO ... cold? no, it's not the air conditioner; it's also not the water coming out from the faucet; and, it is certainly not the weather.

could it be? yes, the one and only young prodigy — itoshi sae.

well, why don't we have a little flashback, shall we?

"... no- i love him," the girl asserted, fighting back tears that threatened to spill down her cheeks.

sae, her childhood friend, was at a loss for words. he was hurting deeply.

he caught a glimpse of the girl's e/c hues, glistening with unshed tears.

she was always so sensitive, prone to tears when scolded, when her thoughts grew tangled, or when she made a minor mistake.

sae knew this all too well.

that's why he never, ever raised his voice to her. he would always reassure her with soothing words, calming her troubled mind.

and though he wasn't the type to express such emotions, he would always try to cheer her up.

sae would always put her first, above everything else. but now, he was hurting.

he didn't know what to do, what to say, how to react. but of course, he'd rather die than to see her cry.

sae wrapped his arms around the girl beside him, gently stroking her soft locks. "don't cry over a boy, y/n," he consoled her, his voice laced with sincerity.

"if he doesn't like you, then it's his loss." he assured her, just as he always did.

"you are the most beautiful, kindest, and perfect woman i have ever met. i can't imagine he wouldn't return your feelings... but if he doesn't, then... i'm always here for you," sae added, wiping away her tears.

"thank you, sae..." the girl replied, her voice soft and barely audible, her sniffling subsiding.

memories of that night still lingered, a haunting melody that played on repeat in sae's mind.

while he wasn't entirely mad at the h/c haired girl, a pang of disappointment gnawed at his heart.

sadness, a heavy cloak, enveloped him, yet he understood that he couldn't control the girl's affections.

but disappointment, that was a different story.

sae had poured his heart out, confessing his feelings, even asking her to be his partner.
