UNDER THE DARK SKIES OF NIGHTTIME, the hospital corridors, which were typically alive with hushed activity, were silent.

y/n and sae were nestled away from the sterile activity in a peaceful area.

their soft swaying motion conveyed comfort amidst the frantic tempest outside.

y/n knew things were getting worse, but seeing sae worry would break her heart.

so, when he asked why she hadn't replied to his messages, she just said she was tired and fell asleep.

it wasn't the truth, but she couldn't bring herself to add to his problems.

the lie stuck in her throat like a bad taste.

sae deserved to know, but she was scared. scared of seeing the concern in his eyes, scared of being a burden.

yet, keeping it a secret felt like pushing him away, building a wall between them.

both lying in bed, listening to the rain, y/n realized she couldn't hide forever.

maybe facing things together, even if it was tough, was stronger than any lie.

the warmth of sae's arms enveloped y/n, but it couldn't quite dispel the shadows that had crept onto her face.

he noticed her troubled gaze, the way her brow furrowed in unspoken worry.

"hey, you okay?" he asked gently, his voice laced with concern.

y/n's thoughts, tangled with anxieties, were abruptly cut short.

she mumbled a quiet "yes," but her voice lacked conviction.

sae wasn't convinced either.

he sat up slightly, still holding her close, his eyes searching hers.

"i don't want to burden you with my illness, sae," she confessed, her voice barely a whisper as she buried her face in his chest.

"but my doctor said it's getting worse." the words tumbled out, followed by a choked sob.

"i'm sorry," she mumbled, guilt lacing her voice.

sae responded with a soft touch, his fingers tracing comforting circles on her back.

"it's okay, y/n," he said, his voice firm yet filled with understanding. "thanks for telling me. we'll get through this together, okay?"
