Chapter 4: A Second Chance?

Maximus dragged Misery to the gates of Corona, and gently nudged her towards the king. Eugene carefully picked Bean up from Maximus's saddle, as to not wake the four year old.

King Frederic: ( to Misery: ) Given the circumstances, Miss Misery. I decided that instead of separating you and your brother by having you behind bars, you will given a second chance alongside your brother under the guidance of Captain Eugene as long as you behave and keep your brother's powers under control.

Misery glanced at Eugene with a raised brow, that quickly turned into a cold protective glare when she saw that he was holding Bean, who just awakened up and was now looking at his surroundings with tired eyes.

King Frederic: And maybe this second chance will help the both of you find a family to help make sure your thieving days are behind you.

Misery: ( to Frederic, with a serious expression: ) Thank you, your highness, but all the family I need is my little brother, no one else.

King Frederic: Maybe your mind will change in due time.

Queen Arianna: Till then, the both of you are welcomed to stay at the castle.

When Bean's eyes fully adjusted and when he saw the king and his sister, he began crying again as he reached his hands out to Misery, as he thought that the king was going to have her taken away from him. Misery quickly took Bean from Eugene, and shushes him smoothingly, Bean slowly calmed down and hugged Misery's neck before falling back to sleep.

Misery: ( sighs ) ( to the king and queen: ) I will do my best to keep my brother's powers to the best of my abilities, but it might take some time for him to not get extremely upset whenever he sees the king.

King Frederic: Completely understandable.

( Slight time skip, at the castle )

Misery and Bean were now in one of the castle's guest rooms. Misery was currently cleaning Bean's face with a wet rag when they heard a knock on the door. Misery hands the rag to Bean and picked up her guitar before pulling a chair next to the door and stood on it, before she turned the knob and slightly opened the door. Varian then walked into the room with a nervous expression and a book & pencil in his hands while Bean saw that Eugene and Rapunzel were behind him, and Bean tried to tell Varian to duck by using hand gestures, but Varian didn't seem to notice or get what the four year old was trying to do.

Varian: Hey, Misery, just coming by to check on you and your brother, and I was hoping you would answer some-

Misery then suddenly hit Varian on the back of his head with her guitar, knocking him unconscious, surprising Rapunzel, Pascal, and Eugene.

Misery: Oh, it's just the alchemist. ( Noticed who was with him ) As well as the princess and Flynn Rider.

Eugene: What the?! Okay, what's with Tiny Cass and hitting people with her guitar?

Rapunzel: ( to Eugene: ) " Tiny Cass "?

Misery: Who?

Eugene: ( to Misery: ) A friend of ours. ( To Rapunzel: ) She reminds me of Cass, and she's also almost equally as scary as Cassandra.

Misery rolls her eyes in response to Eugene, and Bean calmly takes Varian's goggles while everyone didn't have their eyes on him.
