Chapter 5: An Attempt to get Scary Girl to Open up ( Part 1 ) ( Short )

It was the next day, and Misery was fixing a hole in her dress while Bean was playing with Varian's goggles, which he stole from the alchemist that morning, when the two heard a knock on the door. Rapunzel then came into the room with Pascal and with a smile on her face.

Rapunzel: Morning! I just came to check on you sense neither of you came to join us for breakfast-

Misery: ( with a stern expression, as she didn't fully trust the princess: ) I thought it be best that Bean and the king shouldn't be in the same room together. As Bean doesn't fully trust that the king won't try to separate us.

Rapunzel: Oh, right. If you want, I'm sure it's not too late to get you both something to eat.

Misery: No thanks. I had snuck out this morning and got us something to eat from one of the farmers.

Rapunzel: You didn't-

Misery: No, I didn't steal anything, I left the farmer and his family a pouch full of gold coins as payment before I left.

Rapunzel: That's very kind of you to do, Misery. But, maybe you shouldn't leave the castle by yourself, from what Eugene told me about what happened to you and Bean's camp, it might not be safe.

Misery: ( scoffs ) ( quietly, with a slight smile: ) Like the Serpent Venoms could actually be any threat to me...

Rapunzel: ( heard what Misery said ) Wait, Misery, do you know who the bandits that attacked you were?-

Misery: It's none of your business, Princess.

They then heard another knock on the door, Misery opens the door with a stern expression, which softened slightly when she saw that it was Varian. Ruddinger walked past the girl and went straight to Bean, who happily hugged the raccoon with a smile.

Varian: ( to Misery, nervously: ) Hi, Misery. I, uh, I was wondering if you happen to know where-

Misery: Bean, hand the goggles back to Varian, I know you stole them from Varian not " borrow " them like you told me this morning.

Bean pouts before letting go of Ruddinger and hands Varian back his goggles.

Varian: Thanks- Wait, How-

Misery: ( with her arms crossed: ) If Bean randomly hugs you, don't expect him to not steal something from you. It's a little trick that I thought him. ( Notices something in the corner of her eyes )

Misery then suddenly pulled out a dagger that was hidden under the bottom of her boot and threw it out of the opened windows, when Rapunzel, Varian, Pascal, and Ruddinger looked at said window with Bean to see what Misery was aiming at, they saw that one of the bandits from before fell backwards down from the window with the dagger in his shoulder. Misery walked to the window and watched as the bandit fell.

Misery: ( shouts angrily, at the bandit as he fell: ) Maybe next time, don't try to kidnap someone in broad daylight, you Serpent idiot!

Misery then shuts the window shut with a stern expression, and turned to see the shock looks from Rapunzel, Pascal, Varian, and Ruddinger while Bean gave his sister a cute innocent smile.

Misery: ( to Rapunzel and Varian: ) What? Have neither of you seen a girl protect her little brother before? ( Rolls her eyes ) If neither of you need anything from us, leave.

Misery then gently pushed Varian and Rapunzel out of the room, and Pascal & Ruddinger followed them out of the room before Misery closed the door behind them.

Varian: Wow.

Rapunzel: ( thoughts: ) I wonder how I can get Misery to warm up to us and trust that she and Bean are safe here or at least tells us where their from... Wait, I think I might have an idea on how to do that, hopefully I can get Eugene and Varian to join in with what I'm thinking, Varian will probably agree instantly because of his feelings towards her.
