Izumi rushed towards the head of blonde whose back was turned and crashed into the figure with a mischievous grin.
"Kachan! Kachan! Guess what!"
The teachers in charge of watching the class giggled as they watched the small girl get glomped by her best friend who was practically vibrating with excitement. But at the same time they had curious expressions. They had never seen the greenette wear what looked like black bandages across her eyes. The girl's mother had explained that they were because of her quirk and she could see but nothing more than that so they were intrigued by the ongoing conversation.
"Izuchan that hurt!"
Katsumi rubbed the spot on her back where Izumi had practically thrown herself into. But when she finally took a good look at her friend she was confused. She was expecting to see her usual brilliant emerald eyes but she was instead met with black bandages. Her mind was instantly filled with terrible thoughts of her best friend injuring herself in some terrible accident and her own eyes were filled with tears.
"Izuchan what happened?!"
Izumi giggled at her friend's panic and hugged her again to calm her down, "I'm alright I can still see! It's because of my quirk that I have to wear this now!"
"Does it make your eyes hurt if it's not dark?" Katsumi asked with curiosity and calmed down when she knew it was just part of her quirk.
Izumi shook her head, "No it's because whatever I look at gets se... severed! That's the word the Doctor said I think. So I can't look at stuff without this on just in case my quirk activates. The Doctor said I could accidentally hurt people like that."
"Severed?" Katsumi giggled at the word her friend had tripped over, "What does that mean?"
"It means that I cut stuff by looking at them! Now we can be heroes together! You can make explosions and I can sever stuff! We can be the best heroes ever!" Izumi shouted with excitement.
Katsumi grinned, "Yeah we'll be the best heroes ever! Even better than All Might!"

A lot of things change over time and perhaps it's people that undergo the most change as time marches forward. They grow and experience so many things while the rest of the world crawls onward. Sometimes Izumi wished that she hadn't changed so much during the years between kindergarten and middle school. Then at the very least she wouldn't have to deal with her emotions whenever she saw her best friend. She wouldn't have to feel so strange whenever they hugged or held hands while walking. Most importantly she wouldn't have strange thoughts about how tall and beautiful Katsumi had become. Or how she loved how fit yet well endowed she was in the assets department. Izumi had accepted that she had feelings for the blonde a long time ago but decided to try her best to ignore them. After all they were best friends and she didn't want to lose that.
"Are you even paying attention Izu? I know you're tuning out all the extras but at least listen to what I'm saying!"
Izumi looked up to see Katsumi's iridescent ruby eyes just inches away from her own. She took a quick breath in to calm the heat rising throughout her body, a bad decision because Katsumi had worn the flower perfume and it only made her mind put the beauty filter on the blonde.
"Hey you okay? You got a fever or something you're pretty red," Katsumi put her hand on Izumi's forehead, "you're burning up too. Do you need to go home."
"I swear this girl is going to be the death of me!"
"I'm alright it's just hot," Izumi laughed it off despite her internal screaming.
"Woah hey isn't that The Sword Saintess and The Goddess of Destruction?"
"She really wears bandages is she blind or something?"
"Hey sshh they'll hear you!"
Katsumi shook her head and laughed at the underclassmen who were staring, "Jeez people still call us that?"
"It's your fault Kat," Izumi puffed her cheeks in annoyance, "after you so loudly declared that we would be like those characters in the manga you were reading in front of everyone at lunch back in 6th grade! Now they won't stop calling us that!"
"Hey you have to admit you're basically a sword saintess! With just one look you can cut through anything plus you wear the bandages just like she does in the manga," Katsumi retorted with a playful whine.
"Oh shut up," Izumi and rolled her eyes, although no one was able to see.
Katsumi's jaw dropped, "Izu did you just cuss?"
Instead of replying she just sped off with a shocked Katsumi following close behind.

First chapter, I know it's pretty short and I apologize. It's my first time doing bkdk and I'm not sure how to go about it so I'm taking it slow. Although this one is pretty rushed since I want to get to the better parts as soon as possible. So please stick with it I promise it'll get better!
