Izumi felt uneasy when the city fell into an unnatural silence. The chorus of explosions and shouts were drowned out by a vague noise her ears could barely register. Then came the soft rumbling as if the earth itself was joining. The sudden explosion of sound as the shattering of glass and crumbling of buildings resonated in the greenette's chest as the symphony of chaos ensued. A shadow was cast over the fake city as a robot rose from the shadowy depths of a hole that had opened in the middle of the city. In the distance Izumi could see similar robots rising over the walls of the fake cities that were serving as exam sites. Without waiting for any kind of cue she began to descend the building and out into the streets where she was met with a horde of other examinees fleeing from the robot.
"Izu!"
A head of blonde hair rushed towards the greenette with an edge of panic in their voice.
"Kat are you alright?"
Katsumi smirked, "Of course, did you really think any of those robots could hurt me?"
"Not really," Izumi was relieved to hear of her friend's well being, "let's get to the entrance I'm sure everyone will be gathering there."
"HELP!"
Both girls whipped there heads towards the sudden cry to see someone trapped beneath a pile of rubble. A girl with brown hair and a round face was desperately trying to pull her lower half from out of the rubble with tears in her eyes. Izumi and Katsumi rushed towards the girl and used their Quirks to quickly free the girl.
"Can you stand?" Katsumi held the girl up using her shoulder but when they tried to move she could only limp along.
The brunette shook her head and gasped in pain, "It's my ankle!"
"You'll have to carry her otherwise that thing will catch up to us," Izumi rewrapped her bandages as she before giving a quick glance towards the giant robot that was rampaging erratically through the fake city.
Suddenly dozens of robots rushed out of the alleys and charged towards the three girls with reckless abandon. Izumi clicked her tongue in annoyance, her head was pounding and her eyes were burning from having been constantly using her quirk for the past half hour without rest. With Katsumi helping the brunette that meant defending the group was up to her. Using the full extent of her quirk was off the table otherwise she was liable to pass out. With the image of her own personal hero in her mind Izumi held out the palm of her hand and focused on creating a single slash forward. The prideful smirk she had grown to love infected her own as she felt the power of her quirk pool in the palm of her hand and explode outward in a condensed attack. The robots were torn in half horizontally with a single clean slash. A much more controlled and less taxing application of her quirk had been completed. Yet Izumi was still unhappy with the amount of concentration and time it took to use her new technique. But now was not the time to worry about the details of her quirk.
"Let's go!"
They had been running in silence for a few minutes with the sound of the gargantuan robot's destruction slowly closing in on them. Between having to maneuver through the chaos of constant waves of robots and taking detours through the rubble their progress was frustratingly slow.
"Damnit another, Izu!" Katsumi called out when she turned the street corner and found another group of mechanical menaces rushing towards them.
Izumi pushed out her palm but just as she was about to unleash her attack a searing pain shot through shot through her head and she cried out in agony as her eyes felt as if they were being burned in their sockets. She fought against the pain that threatened to overtake her consciousness and forced her eyes open. Even through her black bandages the world was much too bright. Forcing herself far past her limits Izumi pushed out one final attack before completely collapsing.
"Izu!" Katsumi rushed over towards her best friend who was lying motionless.
"Watch out!"
A blue blur rushed passed Katsumi and slammed into a robot that had sprung out from beneath a piece of rubble. It was the same blue haired teen from the presentation who had rushed in to save them.
"I'll take her but we need to move now!" He scooped up the unconscious Izumi in his arms before suddenly freezing.
The sky had grown dark as a mechanical groaning filled their ears. A shadow fell over the group and they slowly glanced back only to find a mountain sized mass of metal bearing down upon them. Katsumi let a feral smile slip onto her face as she pulled the half conscious brunette close to her with one hand. She held her free hand towards the metal mountain and her crimson eyes flashed with the reflection of a memory she held fondly in her mind.
"All you have to do is make it as big and as powerful as you can!"
"Obliterate!"
