Chapter 5 - Regret

Unless Wheatly's not programmed to have emotions. But some how he evolved to. Did he really last that long? Chell would have to ask him.

"Have you figured something out?" Wheatly asked.

Chell shook her head then, useing sine langauge she said,"I dont think you have an emotion mechanisam."

Wheatlys face turned to horar, "W- What!?"

"You must have changed somehow some sort of break in your normal systum that gave you emotions." Chell answered.

Wheatly silently rocked back and forth griping his head with one hand. Gingerly he looked up at her, "Is there ... something wrong with me?"

Chell started shakeing her head furiosly in a No sortove answer.

Wheatly looked back at the floor, "Glad you think so."

"Its alright besides you'd be to boreing without any emotions." Chell sined laying a hand on his solder.

Wheatly had a little laugh and then went silent again.

"Listen I cant prove it but its the best explaination I can think of." Chell said useing sign langauge, "Do you remember what it was like before you found me?"

Wheatly thought hard. Alot of it was boreing so it was a blure. He rememberd talking to the test subjects and defective turrents even though nighther could respond to him.

He remembered wanting to leave so bad because of how lonley he felt but he couldnt without a test subject's help. Thats when he found Chell. But he had to think back even further. There was a time when he saw himself completeing tasks but he was always silent. Then he fell of his managment rail. It broke him a little but after that he was awake. He could think and feel lonley, it was almost curse. This whole prossess took Wheatly around five minutes.

"I fell of my rail a long time ago before then I never felt anything all I did was my tasks day in day out." Wheatly told her, "After that I was aware."

Chell nodded. Wheatly would still catch himself thinking of her as Luv. She stood up and walked into the kitchen. She would do this sometimes, leave or go to do something else without a signal or even a word. Wheatly wondered if Chell could even speak. If she did she hadnt in so long that maybe she wasnt sure she could still do it.

Wheatly remembered when he first met her. He had asked her to say apple and she just jumped. Wheatly had asumened this ment that the long sleep had really caused her to have brain damage. But she seem fine now. Realiseing that he had gone of track with his thoughts he focased again.

He stood up and turned twards Chell who was working with some kind of food. He gave up what he was going to say and stayed silent. After Chell went to bed Wheatly decided he had to see what dreams were like again.

"Its okay I have you." Wheatly said holding onto Luv's hand. She was about to fall into a pit of fire and defective turnets. He lifted her up and she gave him a hug.

Then the world faded and they were about to ride one of the tubes straight to  Glados. Before Wheatly could transform back into his simple core form. Luv grabbed his hand. He looked back at her. A tear was falling down her scared face. He stepped tward her and he placed his hand on the side of her face. She made a small smile and placed her other hand on his.

"It'll be okay Luv," Wheatly said trying to comdfort her.

Luv nodded and then looked determand.

"Are you ready to go fight Glados!?" He asked. Trying to use as confident of a voice as he could.

Luv nodded and together they went to Glados. The sene faded again and Wheatly was in the mainframe.

"Well now whos the boss? Whos the boss? ... Its me."

"No no stop it stop it!!!" Wheatly heard himself say when he awoke. The dream felt so real. Everything that happened inside his dreams had actauly happaned not nesasarily right after each other like in the dream but they did happen. Wheatly wondered if she dreamed about the past too.

"Oh Luv ... Im so sorry."
