Monday
Claire

Monday arrived with freezing temperatures, so I bundled up in my favorite brown fur-lined coat before heading downstairs.

Bella was standing in the kitchen nursing a coffee. "Where are you going?" she asked sharply. "I'm getting picked up."

"Who would want to pick your sorry ass up?" I grabbed my bag and headed for the door.

"My boyfriend, Jasper Hale." The look of shock on her face was worth every second. I closed the door before she could respond.

Outside, Jasper was leaning against his Jeep with a grin. "I'm guessing you heard that." "Every word," he said, wrapping his arms around my waist.

"Especially the boyfriend part." I laughed as he kissed me. When we arrived at school, rows of yellow buses filled the parking lot.

I groaned. "I completely forgot today was the greenhouse trip." I pulled my permission slip from my bag and stared at it.

"I wonder if—" Before I could finish, Jasper snatched it from my hand. "Oh no. You're going." "Jasper."

"Absolutely not. I'm not getting stuck all day with Alice, Isaiah, and gloomy over there." He pointed toward Edward.

"Plus the humans." "Traitor." "Love you too." He dragged me toward Mr. Molina and handed over both of our permission slips.

"Damn you, Jaz." I crossed my arms. "Don't be like that, darlin'. You know I only do it because I love you." He kissed my temple.

"Hmph." I pulled away from him and immediately wrapped my arms around Alice.

"I love Alice now. Sorry, Isaiah. She's mine." Alice burst out laughing. "Girls," Isaiah muttered.

"Really?" Alice smirked. Jasper immediately looked at him. "What have you done?" Alice pulled me closer.

"We're girls, remember?" Jasper turned and glared dramatically at Isaiah. "Look what you've done." Alice and I laughed all the way to the buses.

As we reached the loading area, I noticed Edward staring across the parking lot. Following his gaze, I spotted Bella and Mike talking.

"Edward," I whispered sharply, "you promised you wouldn't pursue anything." He spun around and glared at me.

"Shut up, Claire. What would you know?" Alice immediately stepped between us. "Enough, Edward," she warned.

A second later, Jasper and Isaiah appeared behind us. Edward's eyes flicked between them before he growled and turned away.

"Come on, let's go. Green is what? good!" Alice grabbed my wrist and practically dragged me onto the bus.
