"Did you hear? We have a new student?" Jessica asked as I grabbed my books from my locker. "Yeah, I live with her." "Oh." Jessica laughed.
"I always forget you're the Chief's daughter." I hummed in response and closed my locker as we headed toward homeroom.
It wasn't until lunch that I caught up with the girls and my sister. Mike and Jessica walked over to our table with Bella after grabbing their food.
"Mike, meet my homegirl Bella," Eric said as Mike sat down. "Your homegirl?" Mike scoffed with a laugh.
I glanced at Jessica and shook my head slightly. Boys, I mouthed, making her chuckle.
"My girl," Tyler corrected, kissing Bella's cheek before yanking Mike's chair out from under him.
Jessica turned to Bella, a hint of jealousy crossing her face as the boys chased each other around the cafeteria.
"It's first grade all over again," she muttered. "And you're the shiny new toy."
A sudden flash went off, and I turned to see Angela lowering her camera. "Sorry. Needed a candid for the feature," she told Bella.
"The feature's dead, Angela. Don't bring it up again." Eric suddenly appeared beside us. "I got your back, baby," he told Bella.
"Eric!" He looked at me sheepishly before quickly disappearing. "Sorry, Ange," I said, patting her shoulder.
"Guess we'll just run another editorial on teen drinking," she said with a sigh.
"Sorry. There's always eating disorders or Speedo padding on the swim team." Angela immediately perked up.
"Wait—that's actually a good one." We all laughed, thinking about Kirk. "Who are they?"
