Claire
Within a week, I was already five months pregnant, but I could barely keep anything down.
"Isaiah's gonna be here today" I said, pulling the blanket tighter around myself while Katie braided my hair.
"Well, I know everyone can't wait to meet him," Katie said with a smile as she tied off the braid.
"Maybe the girls are. I don't know about the boys," Marcus replied as he walked into the lounge room and sat beside Katie.
"How are you feeling?" he asked, taking my hand and giving it a gentle squeeze. "Haven't thrown up anything," I said with a humourless chuckle.
"Then again, that's probably because I don't have anything left in me."
"Don't worry, Claire. Noah will figure something out. You're family now, and we protect family" Liam said as he entered with Ashley.
I smiled softly. "You've only known me for a couple of days." "So?" Marcus shrugged.
"Sometimes you can meet someone, talk to them for ten minutes, and know they're going to be part of your life forever."
Katie leaned against him and nodded. "Exactly." "Thank you, guys." We spent a little longer talking before all of their heads suddenly turned toward the front of the house.
"Someone's coming." They moved toward the window. "I think it's your friend." "Katie, would you help me up?"
She nodded and carefully helped me to my feet. I waddled over to the window and peered outside. A familiar figure stepped out of a car.
"Yeah," I said with a smile. "That's him." I made my way to the front door and opened it just as Isaiah was looking around the property.
"Nice place," he said as he climbed the porch steps. "Why, thank you." He stepped inside and immediately paused, lifting his head to sniff the air.
"Have you had vampires in this house?" "Yeah," I replied as he closed the door behind him.
"A family of vegetarian vampires. They've been staying here since I told you about the pregnancy." His eyes finally dropped to my stomach.
"Wow. I thought you only just found out." "I did." I gestured toward my swollen belly.
"This has happened with just the week" His eyes widened slightly before he helped me back toward the lounge room.
As soon as we entered, everyone stood. "Everyone, meet Isaiah." Isaiah immediately stiffened. I grabbed his arm and gently tugged him forward.
"Isaiah, this is Noah and Vanessa. They're the heads of the coven. Ashley and Liam are mates, and these two are Katie and Marcus."
Isaiah slowly relaxed enough to shake everyone's hands before returning to my side.
"So you've decided to help Claire?" he asked cautiously as he laced his fingers through mine.
