Isaiah

I sat in the new lounge room, bored without Claire around to make a snarky comment.

Emmett and the others walked in, but none of them looked like they were in the mood for anything—especially Jasper.

"I miss Claire," Emmett sighed as he dropped down beside me. Jasper's head snapped up at her name.

But when he realised she wasn't here, his mood dropped even further. "Sorry, man," Emmett added quietly.

Esme and Carlisle entered a moment later. "Guys, I know it's hard," Carlisle said gently, "but it's for the best."

"Carlisle, we moved because Edward wanted to," I said, standing and crossing my arms.

"None of us did. You dragged us along because we're a family—but why are we being punished by staying away when Edward isn't even here? That was the whole point of leaving together."

"Well—Edward just needs time," Carlisle replied. I scoffed as he and Esme walked out. "This is so unfair," Rosalie muttered.

"Tell me about it," Alice agreed. A buzz in my pocket cut through the tension. Claire's name lit up my phone.

"I'm going on a hunt," I said quickly, already heading for the door."I'll be back in a bit." No one responded before I was gone.

Once I was far enough away that no one could hear, I called her. It rang twice before I heard movement. "Claire?"

"Isaiah?" Her voice was tight. Sniffing. My stomach dropped. "Claire, what's wrong? Are you okay?" "No," she sobbed.

"What happened?" "I'm...I'm pregnant." I froze. The phone slipped from my hand. "Isaiah?" she called. I scrambled to pick it up again.
