Astrid didn't seem too open to the idea of just making weapons for no charge but she agreed to it, knowing Kida. Kida has told me that this is the last stretch, that we're almost ready to plan the next move. "I'm confident that Rodac is nowhere near us. That we can continue on our mission at our own pace and still make it back to Faulkner in one piece."
"That doesn't mean we shouldn't hurry. I'd rather have the help of the Helagation where we're matched with him in some way than be here and completely cut off from any resources we may have." I told her, expressing my fear of what may come.
"You're right, but that doesn't mean we can't train your Magixa for a bit."
Not long after our talk with Astrid, Kida instructed me to go back to training. I was feeling a bit strained from my training with Magnus but I knew I couldn't say 'no'. She trained with me this time and it was just more hands-on stuff. More fireballs, I used Achack on the training dummies. This time, we trained in Pinkurth, away from the draugrs and possible necros. I don't blame Kida for wanting to be cautious, but another battle would have been fun.
I'm unable to sleep now. It's the middle of the night, the moon is full and I'm sure there's some werewolves roaming around, trying to get their prey. Kida warned me that there have been werewolf pack sightings. I've never personally met one, my father has told me a couple of stories about them though. Like how they're mostly vicious creatures, but some keep their morals intact. You can almost tell the difference on which ones they are because their eyes would be a lighter color. But I wouldn't dare get that close to see.
Kida's been snoring for some time right now and I envy her ability to be able to sleep. I'm scared that leaving the room will wake her but I need to do something. I can't just lay here all night. Instead, I uncover myself from the blankets and get up ever so slightly. Her bed is right next to mine and I know that one wrong move will wake her and the whole room.
As I sit up, I swing my feet around to the side of the bed. One step right after the other as slowly as I can, doing my best not to creak the floor but it's impossible. I've done it twice now and it's made some of the others stir.
I'm surprised that I've made it to the common room in Earl Leifs home. Only a few slaves are up, but the one that was making eyes at Senne is nowhere to be seen. I take only a few steps before I just about have a heart attack. "What are you doing up?" Magnus whispers to me through the shadows.
He may be as white as snow, but with his jet black hair, there's no way I would be able to see him. "Couldn't sleep. You?" I walk towards the dining table.
"Something feels off."
"What do you mean?"
He joins me at the table. "I mean, ever since earlier with the draugrs, something has felt off."
"Are you sure it's not just your nerves acting up because of your fear?"
"No, I know the difference," He shakes his head, understanding my confusion. "This is completely different." Magnus is given a horn full of meade from one of the slaves. He thanks her as she walks back to the kitchen and brings it up to his lips.
Placing the tips of my fingers on his hand, I stop him from ingesting the mead, "Are you sure that's a good idea then, lad?"
He shakes my hand away. "What are you talking about?"
"I mean, what about this whole paranoia thing you told me just moments ago. What if something happens?" I wave my hands around and look at him like he's crazy.
"I didn't mean right now, I could have meant yesterday." He shrugs his shoulders before taking a swig.
Rolling my eyes, I glance around the room to look for the remaining slaves, one in particular in fact. I don't see the girl from this morning and I know that I might have missed my chance at something. "Looking for something?"
