Small feathers fluttering, joining one by one
As they take the form of a white wing in the setting sun
Fragile souls vanishing, dying one by one
As they leave behind a blackened wing of a war not yet wonPetra's POV:
"This runt is Eren Jaegar. He's joining our squad."
Captain Levi stood closely behind a teenage boy with ruffled brown hair. His pupils were small dots in a green sea. His body was a perfect rectangle and even his eyelids were frozen open.
"Eren has the ability to change into a titan and back. He should be able to plug Wall Maria." He didn't seem to feel the need to elaborate on why a titan, the thing we had been fighting all our careers, would join the squad. Gunther seemed to be on the same page with me and took a leap forward.
"With all due respect, sir, what if he should turn into a titan and betray us?"
"Then I'll kill him on the spot. Do you have a problem with that?" His irritated eyes searched the room for the answer to his rhetorical question as Eren quickly gulped.
Without another word he grumpily slumped to his office and slammed the door. I looked at the oak door and back at Eren, the new kid. Captain Levi could easily take him down, or worse. Not take him down. I flashed him a fading smile and leaned in a bit closer.
"Welcome to our squad, Eren. I'm Petra Ral."
"The Captain told me about you," Eren quickly grinned at my flushed face, "Well, he briefly told me about all of you. He said I should start cleaning right away so I better go."
He loosened up his body and slowly walked down the stone-brick stairs. I turned around to the frightened men behind me.
"How could you converse so easily with a titan?!" Eld thunderously exclaimed. "Our mortal enemy! They killed so many of our comrades. Our friends..." His brown eyes looked down on me and his eyebrows twisted disgustfully. I sucked in my lips and took a sharp breath in.
"Yes, I have my doubts. For all we know he could turn into a titan right now. But we have to trust him and take him in as a member. If we don't then we'll never have any chance to save humanity!" I looked up into his aggresive eyes and stiffened all my facial muscles. "Besides, we're probably the strongest squad within the walls. If we can't beat one titan then what kind of scouts are we? Captain Levi brought him here for a reason and I intend to trust him!"
Eld exhaled through his nose, shifted away, and scratched his head. Gunther stared at me for a second but slowly turned to follow Eld. Oluo, in an attempt to look like Captain Levi, ruffled his hair, said "tch," and turned away with a flash.
Time skip to about 4 hours later:I was sitting on the porch outside. Most of the outside grounds were dedicated to training but this one place was peaceful, separate from the Hell of war. A bluejay glided through the branched of a mighty oak tree and settled near it's offspring. They were chirping and flapping their wings, just like a human family.
A familiar face poked through the snow lace of the curtains.
Ooh, who is it???? This and the next one were originally 1 chapter but it was WAY too long. Please keep reading.
