I have three little brothers. They all love the water and always ask me to bring them to the local pool. I take them, but society says it's weird for a girl my age to go play in the water. So unless they ask me to go in, I lay on the grass and watch them play. I long to run in after them and let the water surround my body and just float there.
But I am seventeen; yet I feel as though I am still twelve.I dream of the strangest things for a seventeen year old. I want to believe that magical creatures do exist. Witches, unicorns, and elves. My favorite fairy tale creatures are mermaids. I have always wanted to be a mermaid ever since I was little. Usually those kind of dreams die when you wake up and slowly crawl into the reality of a preteen world. Sure, I've grown up and matured. I have responsibilities and privileges, but I still dream of growing a tail when I touch water and having powers that control the water. That is only a dream though.

Hair that is black as the night and ocean blue eyes. I know it seems like I am exaggerating, but honestly it's the truth. I have been called "Blued Eyed Snow White" more times than I can count.
My mind starts to wander off into plans that my friend Abby and I made for the next week. Today is my last day home before I go on a road trip I promised her we would take before she left for college. Abby is a year older than me and is going to school halfway across the country in two months. We planned to take her Jeep an camp somewhere for an entire week before returning home. We have the food, money, supplies, tent, and vehicle. All we needed now was a place to go. That is to be decided tonight when I meet with her.
I am starting to get restless worrying about how far away we might go, so I start to think that if I were a mermaid I would have the most beautiful tail...
