This is set in the early lover era, just after reputation, so ofc Taylor is sensitive to the topic of her career.

You and your friends had been having an annual sleepover for as long as you could remember. This year was your year to host and it was the first time you had been hostess while you and Taylor were married and living together.

All day you and Taylor had been preparing food and the house for this sleepover. You had set up the second living room with mattresses and blankets, pillows and other items to make the room more comfortable and inviting.

Your friends started arriving about 5pm. There was only four of you, five including Taylor, she had yet to experience a sleepover as you have always went on your own. You were so excited to have Taylor join in on this occasion with you and your friends.

Once all your friends arrived you started the night by making cocktails each of you mixing your own jug to share throughout the night. Once your drinks were ready you began playing games. The night was full of laughter and fun and you were so happy to see Taylor also having fun.

Taylor had obviously spent time with them plenty of times, they were all at your wedding too however as the night went by the mood started lowering, and you could tell Taylor was feeling uncomfortable. All night she had been expressing herself freely and engaging in conversation now she seemed more sheltered and clingy to you. You thought it maybe just tiredness however you could see the shift in the demeanour of the others.

"I'm gonna go use the bathroom," Taylor whispered softly in your ear as you spoke to one of your friends.

"Okay baby," you replied as you kissed her. Your eyes followed her out of the room, you silently admired your wife.

As she was gone your friends let out a collective sigh.

"She's hard work," one of them laughed and they all nodded and hummed in agreement.

"Excuse me?" you scoffed, offended by these words.

"All she talks about is her music and her tours. Like does she not have anything else good in her lif-" you cut them off furious that they felt it was okay to talk about your wife like that.

"First of all. Taylor is my wife what makes you think I would be okay with you talking about her like that in her own house?" you said bitterly.

They all tried to reply but you cut them off again. "No I am not done. How dare you say that she brags about her career. Taylor is the most humble person I know she will not speak of her career unless she is asked about it which all three of you did immensely. You do not get to come into my house and speak of my wife like that."

You took a deep breath, trying to calm your anger before continuing. "And by the way, her music and her tours happen to be a significant part of her life, something she's worked incredibly hard for and is passionate about. If you can't appreciate that, then maybe you should reconsider being here."

Your friends exchanged uncomfortable glances, realising they had crossed a line. "Look, we didn't mean to upset you. It's just that, well, we thought she might be more down-to-earth, you know, not all about her celebrity life," one of them stammered.

"Down-to-earth? Have any of you bothered to get to know her beyond what you see in the media? Taylor is one of the most down-to-earth people I know. She values real connections, meaningful conversations, and she certainly doesn't deserve the judgment you're throwing at her," you retorted, your protective instincts for your wife taking over.

Just then, Taylor returned from the bathroom, oblivious to the tension in the room. You shot your friends a stern look before turning your attention back to Taylor, taking her hand in yours.
