Watching Elijah leave out the door had put me in a sour mood.
I dislike everything about the situation, from not being able to accompany him to the anxiousness that built up inside me every single second that passed by.
His silhouette disappeared and became one with the darkness of the woods. I hug myself tighter, trying to find comfort within the coldness of my body.
I swallow the urge to pace around the porch like a mad man. Instead I stay put, my eyes scanned the forest for any moment.
I strained my ears for anything that might indicate a possible threat, or even the slightest possibility that Eli was calling for me.
I hear and see nothing but the calmness of nature. I breathe in slowly, in attempt to calm myself down.
Everything will be fine.
I finally have the courage to go back inside, hoping for the safety of my beloved. The front door closes with a click, and I linger around for a moment, my mind crossing every possible scenario.
Don't worry. Everything will be fine.
"Your lover has quite the nose on him." A familiar voice echoed through the walls of the house.
I freeze in place, the hairs on my skin stood in shock.
I do not breathe as I slowly make my way through the hallway towards the living space. My eyes flare and my dull nails extend out into sharp claws.
"Well that is what you'd expect of a human dog." My nostrils flared at the ill comment.
"Watch your mouth, unless you want to end up without a tongue." I warn as I finally stepped in frame, face to face with the intruder.
"Helene." I say, my eyes meeting identical vivid blue orbs.
"Lucien." Her smile is sly and full of mischief.
Helene sat carelessly on the sofa, her long legs crossed over one another and her straight black hair was up in a high ponytail like she always wore it.
I watch as she twirls around one of Elijah's pens in her hand, looking amused.
"What brings you here?" I demand, my claws still on display for her to see that she was still a threat to me.
"I should be asking you the same question." Helene clasped the pen in her palm and stares back at me.
"What brings you here. How did you find me?" She questioned, eyes wide and intense.
"I couldn't say, I still do not know where you hide. You are here now, and you've done me a favor and saved me time from searching for you." Helene scoffed and rose one of her thin brows.
"Why on earth are you searching for me?"
"I am not. Elijah is." I corrected, watching her face turn grim.
"Your dog is the one seeking me? What a laughable joke." Her laughter woke up something inside me. A part of me that I thought I had felt behind me.
My violent self, my darkness.
Within a second I was at her side, my hand on her delicate throat. I pressed her back against the sofa, hissing and fueling with anger.
"Keep your insolent remarks to yourself or I will take your head." I spat bitterly, squeezing her throat tightly, daring her to disrespect Elijah again.
She bared her sharp fangs at me, smiling mockingly.
This is why we never get along. Her and her smart ill mannered mouth.
