I don't remember how long I've been sitting here in a complete daze.

My ears rang painfully and I blinked several times to come back to my senses.

It took a minute for me to jump out of my trance as my eyes glanced around my surroundings.

I was home.

Oh yeah, I ran home after bumping into someone. How much time had passed since I got home?
I frowned upon the thought.
How long had I been mentally unconscious? And then it hit me.

Na's stone.

Right! I came home in a panic to look for it. I took in a breath and forced my arms and legs to bare my weight as I stood.

My legs trembled weak and slow as I walk. With one hand on the wall to keep me from tripping over my own feet, I head towards my bedroom.

Gods, my body hurts.

I felt feverish. Hot and cold at the same time. It was awfully displeasing.

"Na', help me." I whispered as I made my way to the bed and dropped to my knees. I lowered myself to the ground and reached for the box I had hidden under the bed.

My fingertips aimlessly danced from side to side until I touched the edge of the cardboard box. I pulled it out and placed it in front of me.

I lifted the lid and found the leather pouch I keep Ma's praying stone along with other important things she left behind.

The Rebirth Stone is what we call it.
It was the size of my hand, maybe even bigger and very dense. The stone had a shape of a crown, with various sharp peaks. It was a charcoal black to the eye, but when held up into the sun it glows a beautiful deep forest green.

This is only one of the various
fragments of the Mother Stone. Our Mother stone is much larger and deep underground somewhere in Takil. It was forced to be hidden by our people, but I have yet to know what became of it.

I hold my breath and reach into the pouch to take the stone. It's been a while since I've last prayed with the rebirth stone.

That was exactly 2 years ago when I had to flee from Vermont. I had heard word that a group of vampires were taking part of a big hunt. And not only for prey but for something else.

I had no choice but to flee to avoid getting captured by chance. The odds were very low and it didn't help that I was located where most of the population were supernatural creatures.
I had no choice but to leave.

The thought of getting captured makes my heartbeat hammer against my chest from anxiety.

No! Focus Nicte!

I shake all the bad thoughts out of my head and inhale in order to relax and concentrate.

I adjust myself to sit on my heels, kneeling on the floor with the stone resting on my lap.

I close my eyes and breath in. Once my mind was fully aware and focused, I touch then ground and then touch my chest.

"Deceive the innocent, deceive the evil, may my disguise that fools eyes disappear and reveal my truths."
I chant and completely break off the magic that I placed upon me.

I glance down at myself and did a quick check up in the mirror beside the closet door. My true self was fully on display.
I wore nothing but my bare brown skin and my cloths that hid my intimate lower body.

My pointed ears poked their way through my long black hair, and my face and body proudly wore my markings.

My eyes glowed a soft teal how they always did whenever I used my magic. These were my truths. My true form.
