YVONNE LOCKHART
"Wake up, Yvonne." A voice said as they tapped my shoulder, causing one of my eyes to open slowly to look at them
I let out a small groan and bury my face back into my pillow, hearing a sigh from my left
"Yvonne, You do know that we need to get the Greenwoods prepared for their gathering later." Marivic said, giving my shoulder another nudge
"I know . . . could I just lay here for a few more moments?" I reply, my voice muffled
"Very well. But, you should be downstairs in less than 10 minutes, understood?" She said with a sigh, taking out her pocket watch
"yes, yes, I know. I'll be there"
I then hear her footsteps walk out of the room, closing the door gently behind herGosh, their 'urgent meeting' is still later in the day! Why do I have to get up this early?... I thought with another groan
Eventually, I got up and fixed the sheets of my bed before walking to the bathroom, getting my hair in a loose tie and washing my face. I look at myself through the mirror and see my bright blue eyes, giving a wince as a white strand of hair falls in front of my face.
You see, that hair strand wasn't the only one that was white. Every single strand of hair that existed on my body was snow white. It was a curse that was set on me the second I was born, most likely from somebody who had a grudge against my dead parents.
Believed to be witchcraft, that was the conclusion of the doctors that was sent to examine me not long after my birth. That along with my blue eyes. It often terrified the townspeople back then when I would look up at them and smile. Of course, the years passed and they grew accustomed to it.
Not all were as positive about my curse though. I was sent to serve the noble Greenwood family with the intention of trying to put a cursed child to use as soon as I turned 13. It's been 5 years since that decision was made and the other servants and maids still shoot me glares literally rooms away.
Shaking off the memory, I removed the tie that was around my hair and let it go around my wrist, taking a comb from the small basket and running it through my hair. I didn't even want to attempt to make it fancy today else I'd get Marivic's paranoid mouth back to my room.
I quickly placed the comb back and changed into some fitting clothes for the day before making my way out of my room and downstairs to find the head of the house, Allan Greenwood, a.k.a. the person whom I serve out of the other figures in the house.
"Good morning, Yvonne." He greeted me with a smile and I give a small respectful bow in return
"Have you eaten breakfast, Sir?" I ask, peering around his shoulder to look at the kitchen
"Ah, Yes. I am about to leave for work so do grab my coat by the door, if you please"
I give him a nod and walk to the front door, getting his coat that was hanging by the nearby wall and handing it to him
"Thank you. I will be back by 3 o' clock to get prepared for the gathering in the evening. My clothes are hanging outside so please have them clean before I get home." He said as he put on his dark coat"Of course, Sir." I reply
He gives me a smile and places his hat on his head, fixing his tie as he walked to the door. He turned to me as his hand was on the doorknob and smiled
"Good day, Yvonne" He said before going out of the door and closing it, his footsteps crunching the autumn leaves under his shoes as he walked away
