Nicki returned to her room, as she had told Alexander. On her way back she had thought about the valuable piece of information that the servant had shared with Alexander. The rebels were on the move. They were getting closer to the palace. Her hand had instinctively moved towards her growing belly. Did they know about offspring or were they only coming for Alexander? She got a heavy feeling on her chest. Breathe Nicki. Breathe. They couldn't know. Almost no one had seen her. Alexander had kept her hidden for this very reason. She was safe here.

"Don't disturb me. I want to rest in my bedroom." She told Reeva as soon as she had entered her room. She shut the bedroom door without waiting for a reply and sat down on the edge of her bed.

"Why am I acting like a damsel in distress? I may be pregnant but I'm not defenceless." She said to herself with a huff. She caressed her belly again. A wave of fear washed over her. "But I'm more vulnerable than usual." She looked down at her belly, placing both of her hands on it. "Because of you." She whispered. For the first time in her life as a vampire she had something to lose. It was a scary thought.

She suddenly felt a flutter in her belly. Was that fear? No... it happened again. Was it... offspring? "Hey there... little one. Are you starting to move?" She started caressing her belly again. Then it struck her. Her hand stopped moving and Nicki stared at the wall in front of her. She had called offspring little one.

"Fuck. I'm getting attached to you." No, no, no! This wasn't the plan. Motherhood had never been the plan. She wasn't the type for it. The only reason she had kept offspring was to control Alexander but instead she had gotten carried away. Pregnancy was changing her. She was becoming weak. She was acting very friendly towards Alexander and now she was excited about flutters in her growing belly. She groaned and let herself fall on the bed.

"I hate it here. All those weeks and I've made zero progress." She stared at the ceiling for a little while. Then she got off her bed and changed her clothes so she could take a nap. She was tired. The stress, the paperwork, things were affecting her more than she wanted. That was probably the reason why Alexander tried to treat her like a queen. To make her life easy. Wait... that's it! She was pregnant with his child. It probably wouldn't be difficult to convince Alexander to make her his queen. Then she only had to get rid of him and the power would be hers. What would happen with offspring was something to worry about later.

"Plans have changed little one. But you're still going to be very useful." She smiled and caressed her belly again. She then yawned.

"But first I'm going to need some rest before I can make any progress."
