Changze pulled her dress over and tightened the laces of her waist weakly. Her lips were chapped and her face was pale. "Ok." She stammered. Her entire body was aching.

Mingxuan who sat by her side in silence for her to speak first, slowly pulled away the cloth off his eyes. His face was almost bloodless. Hie eyes were slightly unfocussed and beads of sweat frosted his jade like pale forehead and temples.

It costed him a lot of energy than he thought. Drawing arrays with his life blood on her body to ensure the safety of the life in her stomach was no big deal if it had been some other day.

But since the day he got poisoned by Xia Mingyu, every move he made using spells or his cultivation backfired in ten folds. He felt his powers gradually weakening.

Though Changze did not know the person by her side was poisoned, she saw that something was wrong.

"Mingxuan, you ... are you alright?"

"Zhen is fine." Mingxuan said in a low voice. "It's a daughter this time." His face showed no expression. But his eyes shone brightly.

Changze was stunned. "How do you know?"

"Zhen can feel it." Mingxuan wiped away the sweat off his temples from the back of his sleeve. "It's better for you to rest now. I have to summon the morning court session." He got off the bed and pulled her up into a bridal carry again. "You're not to run around again!"

Changze was caught off guard. "You-"

Mingxuan carried her all the way to the innermost chamber of his residence where none had treaded before. A dark curtain embroidered with orchids and peonies felled down the light wall. Changze was well familiar with this view.

She often used to come here after the so called death of her husband, the former Emperor...

She pulled away the curtain since both his hands were occupied. A dark door came into view. Mingxuan kicked it open and his foot released a wave of golden sparks.

The moment the door opened, a biting cold wind rushed out from the darkness forth them. Changze coiled into Mingxuan more. She was very weak. The wind was chilling, freezing her bones.

"He must have put off the lights since it's yet night." Mingxuan said grimly. "It's better if you close your eyes."

Changze was obedient.

She felt the air around her freeze more and more.

Mingxuan got down the long and mossy stairway steadily. The stairs were stony but wet and green. His footsteps echoed throughout the cave like underground hall and somewhere nearby, there was the sound of water drops slapping down the stones.

This place was situated directly under the Yulian Palace and was the extremely personal territory of Mingxuan. Even Xiangge had not treaded here before.

After walking for a while, they reached level ground. The sound of falling waters met their ears as the nearby underground waterfall thundered down the sloping cliff like rocks.

It was very dark to see anything around. Mingxuan put down Changze slowly and waved his hand. Sparks emmited off his fingertips and lamps and lanterns hung at different spots upon walls and lamp posts got frosted with flames brightening the dark hall in a shady gloom.

"You're here!" A pleasant and a deep voice said. Out of the gloomy shadows appeared a tall and a middle aged handsome man who looked seventy five percent like Mingxuan. He was dressed in dark green, making it hard for others to see him clearly.

This person was the former Emperor Xie Zhanwei who was supposed to be murdered by the Second Prince Mingxuan some twenty years ago.

The moment Changze saw him, she ran into his hug with eyes full of tears.
