Instead of her friend or a neighbour suddenly their are millions of lights flickering and man shouting "HERE!", "NO NOT THERE, LOOKE HERE", "AUGUSTINE" and much more as if every single one of the bunch knows her.
As fast as she can react she slams the door close as fast and as a result as fast as she can unfortunately right in the second when she hears the sound of the last and broken stair of the staircase. Though Augustine never ever wants to or even consider slamming doors this one time her mom unfortunately hears it. Just one time she does it out of reflex her mom hears it and will be mad as hell.
Though the 16 years old girl in her old pink Pyjamas doesn't want to find out if she's right she doesn't have to wait long for it as her mom reaches her after a few seconds and as expected with a mad face expression.

Without having time to explain anything her mom directly yells at her "Young la-". Unexpectedly before even finishing her second word of the day she just hugs Augustine and in calm voice says "I'm sorry" without any explanation. As if there was just her reputation that'll get crushed

As that sentence really throws Augustine off it's understandable that she wants to know what's happening though her mom doesn't seem to understand that and instead of explaining it to her just tells her nothing. Not even one thing about what's happening but just that she "must stay at home" that day. Though Scarlett wants her daughter to stay home she can't do anything else then tell her "to go reporters out of the way" as the rare times her daughter protests she can't do anything give her her will.
The only other thing Scarlett could talk Augustine into is not going to her best friend Inez first though "without any particular reason" as Scarlett put it.
Even though Augustine doesn't believed her mother with the lying face expression on her face Augustine doesn't go to Inez's house but directly to school with the feel of getting humiliated in school, which later would sadly turn half true.
