I can still feel the morning breeze on the countryside
I can still name every pet that used to be mine
Didn't think about how the times have changed
Never thought about how Swifties can be so deranged
So I guess that I should tread lightly before noon
So the coffee can kick in a little more soon
I used to sit and ponder about all the terrible things
But now I walk around and think about my pastel dreams
Because nobody can be the person that I choose to be
And nobody can make that kind of decision for me
So why don't we step away and just keep on dancing
Sometimes the sadness loves to sit there to last
But if you just let go then it'll never seem to last
It's time for us to let it go and just say "That's the past"
I can still see the sunset appearing before my eyes
And I can still see the colors appearing during the sunrise
And I used to have people claim themselves as friends
But they're the reason my depression never had an end
And I learned that the time to tread was before noon
But people have been telling that there's nothing I need to prove
I used to sit and question why do I receive the horrible things
But now I walk and wonder about all of my candy cane dreams
Because nobody can hate the person I choose to be
And nobody will ever make that kind of decision for me
So why don't you take my hand and let's just keep dancing
Sometimes the shadow is the only kind last
But a shadow is something that doesn't always catch
It's time for us to let go and say "It's in the past"
It's like guitars playing our favorite songs
And it doesn't matter if it's 20 minutes long
Nobody judges you if you admit you're in the wrong
And nobody shall judge you no matter where you're from
As long as you don't shoot us down with a gun
Take my hand and we'll have endless days of fun
And maybe the cotton candy clouds aren't real
But in this world there are dreams that you can't steal
So let all of your pain go and say "It's in the past"
Take my hand and the sunshine shall always shine
As long as you keep dreaming and say this smile is mine
Let it all go and tell them "That was only the past"
