(timeskip to mid january)

The cold winter breeze flowed through my hair, sending a shiver down my spine as I walked toward the Dupain-Cheng bakery on my way to school.
Picking up a few pastries to share with my friends, I hustled back out to the snowy streets of Paris.
It had been a little over a month since Romeo transferred here, and he was relentless. Luka, being done with his tests for last semester hadn't been back to school except to walk me home every now and then, so Romeo didn't believe I was actually in a relationship, even with multiple people backing me up. Just about every day he'd ask me out to dinner, to lunch, to go get breakfast on the weekends, ice cream- you name it, he was asking for it.
Arriving at school, finally, I caught sight of Marinette and Alya.
Suddenly, Romeo approached me from behind, throwing an arm over my shoulders and almost causing me to drop my pastries.

"Hey! Ever heard of personal space?" I snapped, wriggling out from under his arm.

"Just thought I'd warm you up, Miss Belle," he said smugly. "It's too cold for a girl like you to be out wandering, why don't we go grab some-"

"Oh my god," I muttered, feeling the kettle in my mind start to boil over. "No, for the last time, I'm not interested in you, you arrogant dickhead! When are you going to take a goddamn hint?! Have I not told you over and over that I'm not into you? That I don't want anything to do with you? That, I don't know, I have a boyfriend?! Just leave me alone!" I shouted, earning a few glances from the students around us, and I realized I had rejected him (quite loudly) in front of half the school.

Romeo stood wide-eyed with his lips pressed in a fine line as he looked around. He then narrowed his eyes at me and scoffed.

"Whatever, puttana." He hissed, walking past me and the other students.

I was dumbfounded, my jaw hung wide open and I shook my head in disbelief. Alya and Mari jogged over after seeing what happened.

"Did he really just call you that?" Alya asked, the shock in her voice apparent.

"I guess he took the hint this time.." Marinette mumbled, putting a hand on my shoulder.

"Yeah, hopefully, jeez." I said. "Let's get to class I guess."

Thank god my first class wasn't with Romeo, it would've been really awkward sitting next to him.

The day went by quickly, and my guilt grew just as fast. I decided I would apologize to Romeo on my way to my last class, after lunch.
When I took my seat, he wasn't there. I figured he was just late, but he never came.

Walking back home after school, I couldn't shake the feeling of being watched. I locked my door immediately after getting inside and made a cup of hot chocolate to warm myself up.

I trudged up the stairs with my steaming beverage, blowing on it as I stepped into my cold bedroom... my window was open.
Before I could move to close it, a hand clasped over my mouth.
I gasped, inhaling a sweet scent and dropping my mug.
I instantly felt weak, but tried to fight against the person in my bedroom.

"Shh," they cooed. "Just sleep."

Meanwhile, the next day

Luka had become increasingly worried since the day before, he hadn't heard anything from Maybelle. It wasn't like her to ghost anybody, much less himself. He bounced his leg restlessly, and put his guitar down, unable to write or play with this anxiety.
