Ahaan Veer Malhotra, a successful businessman, deeply cherished his family. His entire world revolved around his five-year-old son, Vihaan. After losing his wife, Vidhi, in a tragic car accident four years ago, Ahaan was left devastated. Vidhi's car had fallen off a cliff, and though her body was never recovered, the hope of finding her had faded long ago. Ever since, Ahaan had been shattered, holding on to life only for Vihaan and his family. Sometimes he lived with his son at their family mansion, and other times, they stayed at their apartment.
On the other side of the city lived Ishqi Sharma, a sweet, independent woman who shared a rented house with her younger sister, Saumya Sharma. Having lost their parents a few years earlier, Ishqi had taken on the responsibility of caring for Saumya, who was close to finishing her graduation. When Saumya confessed her love for Kartik Malhotra, Ahaan's younger brother, Ishqi didn't hesitate. Determined to secure her sister's happiness, she went straight to the Malhotra mansion to ask for their blessing for the marriage.
Savitri, Ahaan's mother, and Durga Devi, his grandmother, warmly welcomed the idea of Saumya and Kartik's marriage. However, as they got to know Ishqi, they couldn't help but see her as the perfect match for Ahaan and a nurturing mother figure for Vihaan. They had long been worried about Ahaan's grief-stricken state and how he had distanced himself from love. They knew Vihaan needed a mother, and as they grew older, they felt an urgency to secure a brighter future for both Ahaan and their grandson.
One evening, Savitri approached Ahaan. "It's time you think about remarriage,"she said softly.
Ahaan's face tightened, his eyes full of pain. "No one can take Vidhi's place, Maa.", he stated.
Savitri's eyes filled with tears. "I know, beta. But Vihaan needs a mother. And you... you deserve happiness."
Despite his refusal, his mother and grandmother continued to press him. After days of emotional pleas and heartfelt conversations, Ahaan finally agreed, though his heart wasn't in it. He agreed only because of his family's insistence. They then proposed Ishqi as a potential bride.
When Ishqi heard this, she was taken aback. "Me? Marry Ahaan?" she asked.
Savitri smiled warmly. "We believe you'd be the perfect match for him, Ishqi. And he needs someone like you."
Ishqi hesitated, but agreed. "I'll do it."
" For Saumya's happiness," she thought. What she didn't know was that Ahaan had a son. As the days passed, she saw Ahaan's photo and, unexpectedly, began to develop feelings for him.
When Ahaan learned that Ishqi wasn't aware of Vihaan, he knew he had to tell her the truth. He called her the next day and asked her to meet him at a cafe.
Sitting across from each other, Ahaan took a deep sigh. "There's something you need to know before we go any further," he said, his tone serious.
Ishqi furrowed her brows. "What is it?"
Ahaan hesitated for a moment, then spoke. "I have a son, Vihaan. He's five years old. I can't marry someone without her knowing about him."
For a moment, Ishqi was stunned. "A son?" she whispered.
He nodded. "It's hard to marry a man who is already married and have a child. If you want, you can refuse for the marriage.", he exclaimed in a soft voice.
She didn't pay any heed to his words and asked suddenly, "Can I see a picture of him?"
Ahaan nodded and pulled out his phone and showed her a photo of Vihaan. As soon as she saw his face, something stirred within her, and without even realizing it, a tear slipped down her cheek.
Ahaan noticed her reaction."You can refuse..."
"No," Ishqi interrupted, her voice soft but firm. "I am ready to marry you."
"Why ?", he asked being confused because no woman will ever be ready to become the second wife.
"Earlier, I was ready to marry you for my sister's happiness, but after seeing your picture I started feeling something for you. But now. I want to marry you for Vihaan.I don't know why, but I already feel a connection with him.", she stated firmly.
Ahaan, however, remained guarded. "You don't have to do this,"he said gently. "You're committing to something bigger than you realize. This marriage won't be what you expect. I'll never be able to love you the way I loved Vidhi. We'll never have that kind of relationship."
Ishqi looked him in the eye. "I understand that. I'm not expecting a traditional marriage, Ahaan. I'm doing this for Vihaan. He needs a mother, and I want to be that for him.", she said with a smile.
Ahaan was silent for a moment, unsure of how to respond. He thought she would refuse him if he will tell her the truth but now she was more firm with her decision and it engraged him a little because he couldn't deny as he had given promise to his family. "Alright then. You are welcome to the hell.", he said coldly with a warning tone.
Ishqi flinched at his words, sensing the bitterness behind them. But she composed herself and nodded."Vihaan deserves a mother's love, and I'm ready to give that to him.", she softly spoke.
Ahaan watched her for a moment, his emotions in turmoil. He didn't want to hurt her, but he couldn't offer her what she deserved-a true, loving marriage. "You don't know what you're signing up for," he murmured.
Ishqi met his gaze with a calm determination. "I know enough," she replied. "
"Fine", he said, his voice colder than he intended.
The conversation ended on that note and they both left the cafe.
