Two days later, it was Vihaan's birthday. He woke up late than usual, feeling sleepy and slightly disoriented, immediately noticing the absence of Ishqi and Ahaan. As he stretched and looked around, his eyes were drawn to a small, handwritten note on the bedside table. Curiously,, he picked it up and read, "Happy Birthday, Champ." Next to the note was a beautifully wrapped gift box. Vihaan quickly tore open the wrapping paper to find a wrist-watch, which was similar to Ahaan's. His heart swelled with joy as he admired the watch, and beneath it, there was another note: "Now hurry up, get ready, and come downstairs-we're waiting for you!"
Excitement bubbling up inside him, Vihaan jumped out of bed and headed to the bathroom. As he entered, he found a fresh set of clothes laid out for him, accompanied by yet another note that read, "This will look great on my champ." Smiling to himself, he quickly showered, dressed in the new clothes, and raced downstairs.
When he entered the living room, his eyes widened in disbelief. There was a large table, completely covered with wrapped presents of all shapes and sizes. His excitement knew no bounds, but despite all the gifts, his eyes scanned the room, still searching for his parents.
"Mumma! Papa! Where are you?" he called out with eagerness.
In an instant, flowers began raining down from above, and to his delight, Ishqi and Ahaan stepped into the room, both singing a heartfelt birthday song just for him. Unable to contain his excitement, Vihaan ran toward them. They both knelt down, wrapping him in a warm, loving embrace.
"Happy Birthday, Vihaan!" they exclaimed in unison, their voices full of love.
"Thank you, Mumma! Thank you, Papa!" Vihaan beamed, hugging them tighter. His smile stretched from ear to ear.
"So, did you like the gifts ?",Ishqi asked.
"I loved it all, especially the watch! It is just similar to Papa's watch!" Vihaan exclaimed, raising his wrist to show it off.
Ahaan chuckled, ruffling his son's hair. "Well, I am glad you liked it, but if you really loved the gifts, you owe us a return gift," he teased.
Both Ahaan and Ishqi leaned their cheeks forward.Vihaan giggled, immediately planting kisses on both of their cheeks.
After the playful moment, Vihaan spoke up, "Actually, Mom and Dad, there's one more thing I really want for my birthday..."
"Anything Vihaan , just name it.", Ahaan responded, leaning forward with curiosity, while Ishqi also looked on, interested.
Vihaan hesitated for a second before blurting out, "I want a little baby brother or sister. All my friends have one, and I think it would be so cool to have a baby at home. Will you please get a baby for me?"
The innocent yet earnest request left both parents momentarily speechless. Ahaan smiled warmly, but Ishqi seemed taken aback. Ahaan noticed Ishqi's surprise, about to respond when a knock at the door interrupted them. As they opened the door, their family members poured in, wishing Vihaan and presenting him with even more gifts.
As the day progressed, everyone became busy preparing for the party. Guests filled the house, especially children who engaged in various games organized for them. Later, everyone gathered to cut the cake, and the dinner went off splendidly, leaving Vihaan exhausted by the end of the night. He quickly fell asleep, worn out from all the excitement.
As Ishqi was cleaning up the mess, she suddenly recalled Vihaan's wish for a baby, which set her mind racing. As she stood lost in thought, Ahaan walked in and immediately noticed her preoccupied state. He quietly fetched a glass of water and returned to her side and gently tapped on her shoulders.
"Are you okay, Ishqi?" he asked softly.
"Yeah... why?" she responded, shaking herself back to the moment.
"You have been lost in your thoughts for a while. I came in, and you didn't even notice," Ahaan pointed out.
"It's nothing important. Let's go to bed," she said, attempting to brush it off.
But Ahaan wasn't letting her escape that easily. He gently held her hands when she was trying to move out. He pulled her closer until they found themselves in a back hug, his arms wrapping around her waist while she rested her hands on his. Ahaan tucked her hair behind her ear and rested his head on her shoulder.
"Now tell me what's bothering you," he insisted.
"Nothing,"she replied, but Ahaan wasn't convinced.
"I am not expecting any excuses. So just tell me the truth.", he exclaimed.
After a brief silence, Ishqi finally sighed, "I was just thinking about Vihaan's wish for a sibling."
"Well, your son didn't ask for something big.", he responded casually.
"It's not like that, Ahaan. It's just...", she stammered.
Ahaan, sensing her unease, turned her towards him and gently cupped her cheeks. "Then what is it, Ishqi? Are you feeling insecure about something?", he asked in a soft voice.
"I'm just scared," she admitted. "I worry that I might be making a mistake. Will my behavior change after the new baby arrives? What if I drift away from Vihaan? I don't want him to feel lonely or think that I am favoring the new baby over him."
Ahaan couldn't help but smile, which puzzled Ishqi. "Why are you smiling?", she asked with a irritated look.
"Seeing your anxious face makes me smile," he admitted. "And about your worries, you have already answered your own questions. Look, I believe that people only fear consequences when they are aware of the changes that might come. You wouldn't be asking these questions if you weren't a great mom who truly cares. It shows you're determined to do the right thing."
Ishqi nodded slowly, beginning to relax. "But what if..."
"Just chill, Mrs. Malhotra," he interrupted. "I have complete faith in you. You know how to handle any situation gracefully."
A smile broke across her face, and Ahaan's heart lifted. "That's the smile I wanted to see."
"Thank you, Ahaan, for helping me see things more clearly," Ishqi said, feeling reassured.
"Now, let's start planning how to fulfill Vihaan's wish, shall we?", he teased her with a wink.
She playfully hitted his chest in annoyance, and they shared a tender hug, both feeling a renewed sense of connection and understanding as they faced the new chapter of their lives together.
