Wish You Were Here (Bonten Rindou Haitani X Fem. OC)

Chapter Seventeen:

I read the number engraved on the key and look for the corresponding bedroom. As soon as I find it, I fumble to get the key in the lock, and as soon as it clicks, the door to the room beside me opens up, revealing the one man I hoped to avoid, but apparently was my neighbor.

'Rindou.'

"Haitani." I nod my head towards him as a greeting before making my way into my room and locking it behind me. 

Rindou POV (the meeting)

As soon as Mikey left the conference room, Ran launches himself off his chair and rushes over to Kaede and spins her around in her chair. "WELCOME TO BONTEN BABY!" Ran shouts as he continues to spin her, I frown at the nickname. 

"RAAANNNN STOOOOPPPP!" Kaede giggles as he continues to spin her around. 

"Fine, fine, I'll stop. Glad to have you back Kae." Ran lets go of her chair and ruffles her hair before moving to leave the conference room, but not before shooting me a look that reads 'go talk to her idiot', but I subtly shake my head in response. 

I get up from my seat, but I let my gaze linger over Kaede for a moment before I follow my brother out the door. 

A moment later, Koko follows the both of us out as well, followed by both Takeomi and Mochi. 

Koko's phone rings, causing the snake eyed man to hastily reach into his pocket and fish out his phone before answering. 

"Hello?" Koko speaks into the phone. I look over at him and raise an eyebrow at him, causing him to wave his free hand at me dismissively. 

"Yessir." Koko shakily responds once more before putting his phone back into his pocket. 

"Duty calls." Koko mockingly bows at us before heading towards the elevator. 

I turn to talk to Ran, but notice that Ran, Takeomi, and Mochi have already made themselves scarce. 

Ever since the whole situation with Kaede and her executives has started, something has been off with Koko. He's been spending a lot more time in Mikey's office than what I would deem average. Ever since the start of this, I've noticed that Koko's normally playful facade would briefly crack, but barely noticeable, making me curious as to why Koko has been so on edge as of late.

Going against every reasonable thought in my mind, I decide to follow him. 

I walk towards the elevator and click on the floor where Mikey's office resides, assuming that Koko was once again beckoned to his office. 

I stand in silence as the elevator moves to ascend to the correct floor. As the elevator ascends, so do my nerves. 'Why am I so nervous?' 

DING

The elevator arrives on the correct floor, and once the door opens, I discreetly peak my head around the corner before moving to walk towards Mikey's office. 

I approach the door and hear the muffled voices of a conversation occurring inside. I move closer to the door, being cautious as to not make my presence known.

"Have you gathered anymore intel?" Mikey's muffled voice asks.

"No sir." Koko's muffled voice responds.
