Wish You Were Here (Bonten Rindou Haitani X Fem. OC)

Chapter Fifteen:

I sprint out of the living room and head over to the elevator so I can go back up to my room. As I wait for the elevator doors to open, my thoughts start to race. 'I need to shower and change out of these bloody clothes, that job Ran and I had got a lot messier than I intended. I need to look perfect. I need to show her than I am still the man she once loved.'

I will earn her love back. 

Kaede POV

'Deep breathes.'

'In...'

'Out...'

'You've got this.'

'You're a badass and a strong, independent woman.'

"You there Kaede?" Natsu taps his pointer finger on my temple, causing me to swat his hand away. 

"Yea, I'm just doing some breathing exercises." I mumble as I turn to look out the window of our vehicle as we head further into the city towards Bonten's headquarters. 

Ran texted me an hour ago to check on our arrival. 

FLASHBACK

Rannabelle: Hey ;)

Rannabelle: Rin wants to know when you're coming over, he won't stop pacing 

'Such a dumb fuck.' I roll my eyes as I read over his messages. 

Me: We'll be there in an hour.

Rannabelle: See ya then <3

FLASHBACK ENDED

"How do you think this'll go?" Ryoko states, causing me to look away from the window and towards him.

"Hmm...I think that when we get there, Kaede's gonna run into the arms of her lover and then they're going to kiss and make up and have lots of hot steamy sex and then live happily ever after!" Natsu exclaims, causing him and Ryoko to giggle at the notion. I lean over the seat and swat the two of them over the back of the head.

"You and your perverted fantasies." I shake my head in disappointment. "It'll be fine. We'll assist Bonten and that'll be it. We'll just move on with our lives, maybe even retire..." I trail off quietly towards the end as I turn to face the window again. 

"Retire? Did I just hear that right? You, who is the workaholic out of all of us, wants to retire?" Natsu feigns a shocked expression, furthering his teasing. 

"Yea, retire." I repeat again. "I know it's just a pipe dream, but the attack on Ryoko and Ayuri was a wake up call. I don't want to be doing this my whole life."

Natsu's once teasing expression fades into a more serious one. "Kaede...I don't think it's that easy. We signed a contract, a contract for life, for our lives. I don't think the boss-man will be up for that. Especially with the weird obsession he has for you to take over one day..." Natsu rambles off.
