Sophie woke up to find a pair of ice blue eyes staring at her."Sophie? Oh thank goodness your awake. I thought I'd lost you." The person was definitely someone she knew, but she couldn't put her finger on it... "Keefe? What happened...?" He looked worried. Nothing bad happened, right? Then it all came rushing back to her. "I don't know. All I remember is waking up to find everyone from before lying on the ground unconscious. Even my mom. I tried waking you up, but you didn't answer, so I tried everyone else, except my mom, and no one was responsive." She tried to get up, but failed, knowing that somewhere around here, all of her friends that she dragged into this mess, were lying around there, unconscious, and maybe even hurt. Keefe saw her trying to get up, and grabbed her by her armpits, helping her up to lean on his shoulder. "Maybe you should try your mom. I know your history with her is not the best, but she's our best chance of getting out of here alive." Keefe looked like he was thinking hard. "I'm telling you, Mommy dearest probably wants all of you dead. Me though... I'm still a big part of something bad, something... Evil." Well. That was her only plan. Now she'd have to think of another one. "Have you looked for any pathfinders or home crystals?" He nodded. "That Elysian dude took them all. I saw him. I guess I didn't pass out as early as everyone else did." The last little bit of hope went away as she spoke, already knowing the answer. "Did you see him take anything out of my pockets?" To her surprise, he shook his head. "Only from around your neck." They were getting out of here! She gathered all her strength and reached over to her left leg, putting her hand in one of the pockets and to her relief, pulling out her home crystal. "Why didn't you mention you had an extra home crystal at the beginning?" Keefe asked, a lot of enthusiasm in his voice. "Hold up. I don't think we should leave until everyone's awake. I'm guessing you can't find the starstone?" His face fell. "Keefe, I'm not planning to leave unless it's with everyone I came with." She hasn't lost anyone yet, and she wasn't planning to loose them now. She tried to lift herself of Keefe's shoulder, but the fact that that would mean she had to see all of her friends unconscious bodies, discouraged her. Also there was this feeling, a pull that felt like it was draining her of her power, that came to her ever since they saw Elysian. It felt like it was coming from... Keefe... The shock was like a tsunami, crashing down on everything in it's path. How did this happen? If Keefe knew, he would distance himself from everyone else. He couldn't live like that forever, and neither could Sophie. There was a long moment of uncomfortable silence until Sophie decided to speak. "Uhmm.. I guess I'll try waking everyone telepathically. While I'm doing that, try waking physically again." As he stood, he made sure to lay Sophie on the grass so she wouldn't fall when he stands. Sophie didn't know who to try first. Marella? Fitz? Maybe she should even try Lady Gisela.
But no. She decided on Fitz.
Fitz? Are you there? Wake up!
No response. She kept trying, repeating his name over and, over again. Until...
Sophie...?
Fitz! Finally, you're awake.
What.. happened..?
That Elysian girl happened. I think she did something to Keefe.
What?
Sophie thought for a moment. If she told Fitz, he might use it to his advantage. He might somehow, make her think of him as a freak...
He just looks a little pale. He probably just needs to go to Elwin.
Fitz seemed to hesitate for a moment before he replied. Okay.
Sophie dropped the mental connection and called over to Keefe, who seemed to be having no luck. "You okay, Foster?" She somehow managed a few weak nods as she said. "Fitz is awake. Can you go help him?" Keefe nodded and Jogged over to Fitz to help him sit up. "Can you talk?" She asked. "I think so..." He replied. Great. One down, two to go. "I'm going to try Marella now." She said as she opened her mind up to Marella's thoughts. Marella? What if she tried waking them like she would with broken minds, looking for the small nook of warmness every mind has, and following it, shouting the person's name until they woke. Marella doesn't have a broken mind, but it was worth a shot. It might be faster. She told herself. Not ideal, but faster. And if it got them out of here faster, she had to try. So she opened her mind to Marella's thoughts again, and started looking for the nook. As she was looking, she observed Marella's thoughts to see if she could find anything to tell her what state Marella's mind was in, and everything was all normal.
Marella! Wake up.
She was thinking of a tactic that might wake Marella up. She would just apologize after. They needed to get out of there. She was about to try again, when she felt someone tap her on the shoulder. "Keefe?" She looked up at him and saw he looked worried. "M-Maruca's injured..." "Take her and Fitz back. Now." He shook his head. " What about you and Marella? I can't leave you guys." Sophie found the strength to stand up. For Marella. She told herself. "If Maruca is injured then we need to get her to Elwin." She turned around, scanning the pleins for a certain dark haired friend. When she found her, she made her way over, careful not to fall. When she saw Maruca's injury, she grabbed the home crystal out of her pocket and pressed it into Keefe's hand. "Now! Go!" She couldn't lose Maruca. She couldn't lose anyone. And she wouldn't. "She still has some time." Keefe said. "Didn't you say that you weren't going to leave without anyone you came with?" She sighed. "That doesn't apply in this situation. Maruca is injured, Keefe. Don't make Maruca suffer anymore than she already is. And, don't forget, I can teleport." Keefe went over to Fitz to help him stand up while Sophie took of her cape and pressed to an unconscious Maruca's shoulder, where there lay a big gash spouting blood, to try and stop the bleeding. Sophie wrapped the cape around Maruca's shoulder and armpit, and tied it tight enough to stop the bleeding, but not enough to hurt. Soon after, Keefe and Fitz were wrapping their concentration around Maruca and holding Sophie's home crystal up to the light. Keefe sent her a worried glance, as if he were trying to say 'are you sure about this?'.
"If we're not back in a day, then you can worry. Or maybe try getting someone to reach out to me telepathically." She said.
His expression didn't change when he let the light sweep them away. And unfortunately, that memory was burned into her memory forever.1200 words! Good for my first Chappie, right? Anyway, I hope you liked it because it's my first time writing! Please point out in the comments any mistakes you see.
