After they left, Sophie lingered a bit, staring at the spot where Keefe, Fitz, and Maruca just were.
Back down to earth Sophie. Marella needs you. Grady and Edaline need you. Your friends need you. The lost cities need you. Your... Boyfriend needs you.
Sophie still hadn't really gotten used to calling Keefe her boyfriend. Her boyfriend. Not anyone else's. Her's.
Sophie... She reminded herself. Stick to the plan.
She didn't really have one, she just made one up. Wake Marella, tell her what happened, and get home.
Sophie walked over to Marella, feeling somewhat better now Keefe wasn't here. Physically, not mentally. She got on her knees next to Marella's head and lifted it on to her lap. She moved Marella's braided hair off her forehead and pressed her fingers to Marella's temples. She kept going deeper into her mind. Marella's thoughts were all... Happy. Sophie continued on, getting deeper and deeper by the second. Until she found a little nook. Not a warm nook, like in everyone else's minds, a cold one. Going in might do something bad. But staying out my do something worse.
Eventually, Sophie's curiosity got the better of her. She entered the nook to find a small place, all filled with sad memories. All except a circle in the center. In the center stood Marella, crying her face off. Sophie raced over and wrapped Marella up in a bear hug. "S-Sophie..." She hiccuped. "I'm so, so sorry. Please, forgive me." Forgive you for what? Marella, why are you crying? She hiccuped several more times before she answered. "I-I failed y-you." Sophie hugged her tighter and let Marella cry on her shoulder until she stopped crying. Marella, you could never fail me. If something happened, it would be my fault. Marella didn't look like she believed that. Marella, we need to get out of here. Suddenly, she started crying again. "Oh, Sophie. I can't! I'm... Stuck. Paralyzed in some way. I can hear everything, but I can't move or speak. Please Sophie, I can't live like this." Seeing Marella cry makes her wonder if she even is Marella. The brave, sassy, kind, and cool girl she became friends with. Hold on. Sophie said as she pulled herself out of Marella's mind. "I'm going to teleport us to Elwin. Maybe he can help." She gathered all her strength into her arms and picked Marella up and started running. When she gained enough speed to open the void, she practically ran at the speed of light with the hopes that she could save Marella. She entered the void, picturing the Foxfire healing center, and had a crash landing at her destination. She expected to find Maruca, and maybe someone else, but not Keefe. Keefe was asleep on a cot, blood covered his tunic and you could see a deep wound on his collarbone. Beside him, Fitz was also asleep with a bad wound, though not as bad as Keefe. Maruca lie awake, (thank goodness) cringing as Elwin applied some sludge to her wound. As soon as Elwin saw her, he ran over and crushed her in a hug. "Sophie, oh, thank goodness your alive! We had a funeral for you and everything!" Elwin pulled back from the hug and examined her (just with his eyes). It seemed to be just then that he noticed Marella, so he waved her over to another cot. "What happened? It was only Maruca that was injured." Elwin sighed. "The Neverseen were camping out at Havenfield for some reason. They saw Keefe, Fitz and, Maruca appear and decided to use it to their advantage. Grady and Edaline were on errands and leaped back in time to save them. Keefe got most injured because he was the strongest and was defending Maruca and Fitz. Fitz eventually gathered enough strength to help him, but got injured too." Silence spread throughout the room, hanging around like fog. Eventually, Elwin started examining some vials on a shelf, probably looking for a distraction. "So... Any idea what's wrong with Marella?" Elwin said, still not turning around. "I thought the problem might be mental, so I went into her mind and looked around to see if there was anything that might make her wake up. And I did. There was a nook, filled with sad memories. All the memories outside were happy, so I guess it makes sense. Anyway, I saw Marella there, crying, and she said she was paralyzed and couldn't move, but still could hear." She glanced at Marella, and then Keefe. Elwin made his way over to Marella and poured an elixir down her throat. "This should do the trick. She'll be better in an hour." Sophie sighed a sigh of relief. "And Keefe? When will he be discharged?" Elwin thought a moment. "Maybe in two months. Same for Fitz. Maruca should be fine in one week." Sophie walked over to Keefe cot and sat down. Maybe Maruca would've been alright if they left with her and Marella. Maybe Keefe wouldn't be as injured as he is now. Maybe she could've taken some of the pain away. Keefe cracked an eye open and tried to smile, but it looked more like a grimace. "Hey Foster, glad to see you're okay. You are, right?" She took his hand and smiled. "Yes Keefe, I'm fine. Can't say the same for you though." Keefe sat up and turned his head to look at Sophie. In the background, Keefe saw Marella. "Is Marella okay?" He asked. "Yeah, she is, just... Paralyzed..." Keefe smirked. "Like I am when I see you." Sophie laughed at his cringy pick-up line. She loved this boy, and nothing would make her stop, even the force radiating off him. She helped him lie back down and told him to rest and that she'd be back. She walked into Elwin's office where he was sitting at his desk. "Elwin? Have you felt that pull radiating off of Keefe?" It took a lot of Sophie's courage to say that, but his reply worried her even more. "Yeah, actually, I have. I was about to ask you about that. Did anything happen while you were at Elysian?" Sophie sighed, somehow prepared without being prepared for the for the question. She knew she could always get out of answering, but that seemed bad considering how truthful Elwin always is. "Elysian isn't exactly a place, it's a person. Elysian is some girl that got imprisoned there somehow. I think she did something to Keefe." As much as the thought pained her, she had to tell someone. She didn't have to be an empath to know how much tension was radiating through the air, and it was a LOT. A subject change was definitely in order. "So... How are Fitz, Maruca and Marella?" Apparently Elwin decided he didn't like that subject change. She winced as he walked over and started flashing different color orbs of light around her face. First yellow, then purple, followed by blue. He flashed just about every color of the rainbow except red around her body before he declared her free to go. Elwin went to go tend to Maruca while Sophie waved bye to Keefe before the light swept her away to the pastures of Havenfield.Another Chappie! I just realized she teleported through the walls... Pretend for the sake of the story. Anyway, random fact. All my chapters are 1200 words.
Edit: I edited it so it's no longer 1200 words.... It's more!Question: Iggy or Silveny. I can't chooseee (but I'm making you like the evil author I am *evil laughter*)!
That's it! Have fun reading!
