When skies are gray

Tony looked down at Peter, he had fallen asleep halfway through The Empire Strikes Back and was currently curled up into Tony's side. Tony smiled and swept Peters hair off of his eyes, careful not to wake him. Peter could always make Tony smile, even when he wasn't doing anything, just standing there, not being dust, that was enough to make Tony smile. Peter was like Tony's son and even when Tony was in his darkest moment, drunk as can be, he would always set down his beer bottle to help Peter. He would buy the entire world if it meant Peter would be happy.

Tony remembered when Peter had dusted away in his arms, it felt like the world would never be right again, and perhaps it wouldn't have if Peter hadn't returned. But he did, Peter returned healthy and smiling. He remembered how much he blamed himself and thought that no amount of therapy could heal him, but after a year, of just seeing Peter live, that was what healed Tony the most. Not just therapy. Tony promised that he would never let Peter go again, never let him die. After Tony had used the infinity stones and nearly died, Peter made him promise the same thing.

The other night, dear

I was mistaken

So I hung my head and I cried

Tony thought back to the last night he had without Peter. The day before that he had refused an almost easy way to get Peter back, but he didn't want to lose Morgan. That night he had cried, he didn't feel bad for loving Morgan, but Peter was supposed to live, Tony had promised his Aunt May that he would. That night he had dreamt Peter was back, but at the end of the dream he dusted away again, and Tony sobbed. That was when he realized that he needed to get Peter back.
