"Match point! Shirotami Tech wins!"

The shrill whistle blew loudly and Yuma sighed heavily, dropping his body to the varnished wood floor tiredly. He heard cheering from his side of the court and quickly stood up, lining up with his team members to end off the match respectfully. His eyes scanned the crowd for his friends — sure enough, all of them, even Euijoo and Maki, were packed in a little group on the second floor.

"Yuma-chan, well done!"

"Yuma!"

"Go Nakakita-kun!"

But someone was missing.

Yuma smiled brightly — yes, he was exhausted, but everything felt worth it in the end because of the support from his friends. The match ended and he went with his team to the changing rooms. He stopped, however, seeing someone standing just beside the door to the corridor.

"... you came."

Yuma met eyes with Taki, as he affectionately called him due to knowing two other Rikis, his heart melting at the sweet dimpled smile of the happy-go-lucky boy. Yuma bowed to his coach to excuse himself, stepping to the side to talk with him.

"Of course I came — you asked me to," Taki scoffed playfully as he gently punched Yuma's arm. "You did well today — as always, of course, because you're the best player in the team."

"That's not true — Takata Mashiho is way better than me. Besides, he has a higher vertical, and— you're not listening, are you?"

Taki laughed as he shook his head. "I just love hearing you talk about volleyball. I love your passion."

Yuma couldn't help but roll his eyes. "Maybe you should attend more of my games," he smiled. "Why did you come see me? Couldn't wait until the very end?"

"I just wanted to know if... you'd go out with me after the game," Taki suggested rather shyly. "I want to celebrate this win with you... b-but if you have plans with your team, then it's fine. Or even if you wanted to celebrate with the oth—"

"Are you asking me out on a dare, Taki-chan?"

Taki's cheeks flared up with redness immediately, shaking his head in denial. "N-no! I mean, unless you want it to be a date, th-then it is a date. Unless you don't, then it's not a date."

"Then it's a date."

Yuma waved his hand as he walked down the corridor, leaving Taki standing in shock on his own. Yuma's confidence crumbled the second he was out of sight, screeching to himself as he leaned against the wall in panic. His heart pumped with excitement as his hands shook with happiness.

"Did I just...?! Did Taki...?! Oh my God, I think I'm losing my mind...!

"Nakakita, hurry up!"

"I'm on my way!"

"See you tomorrow, Yumacchi!"

Yuma waved his hands as his friends walked off without him, receiving a particularly excited wave from Harua who knew that Yuma was waiting for Taki. His heart pumped wildly with anticipation — where was he? He stood outside the gym all alone, nervously raising his phone to check the time.

"Waiting for someone, Nakakita-kun?"

Yuma's coach walked up to him, waving his hand cheerfully while Yuma bowed his head. "Ah, Naruhada-sensei... y-yes, I'm waiting for someone."

"That boy, huh? Well, we're the last two here, apart from the janitor, so I think you should head home," his coach advised, offering a small smile. "Get home safely, okay? And you did a good job at today's match — see you at practice tomorrow."

Yuma bowed his head as the teacher walked off, the once happy feeling that danced around his heart fading quickly. Did Taki leave? But he said he wanted to see him, right? So why would he lead him on? Yuma sighed to himself as he tried to stop any tears from falling down his cheeks — it was still too early to cry.

"I'll just go home..."

As Yuma fixed his backpack strap, he saw a familiar head of blonde and brown hair standing on the corner outside the school building. That hope built up again and Yuma rushed to the boy standing nervously on his own.

"Taki...!"

With missed emotion, the two hugged one another as if they haven't seen each other for a long time. It felt that way, seeing as the match had ended over an hour before. Yuma rested his head on Taki's shoulder, suddenly worried that the other could probably feel his racing heart.

"I thought you left with the other's, but I didn't see you with them," Taki muttered, lifting a hand to run it through Yuma's soft hair. He pulled from the hug and the two glanced into each other's eyes for a short moment before looking away shyly. "I told my mom that I'll be a little later than usual because I'm going to be with you."

"Will we really be together for that long?"

Yuma realised that the word 'together' made him rather nervous to say. Taki nodded, his smile more confident than the other's. Yuma admired how dauntless Taki was — especially in the face of his feelings. Yuma knew for a while that Taki liked him — it was just a matter of getting Yuma to like him back, and it sure was working.

The two began walking together, shy as ever to do anything that gave the notion of them being a couple. Yuma wanted to hold his hand, but he waited until Taki made the first move — he wanted to tease the other as much as he could because he was so obvious about his feelings.

"Takayama-kun," Yuma hummed, head turning to face the other with a smile, "why do you like me?"

"I don't know, really," Taki hummed, glancing between them at their hands that softly touched. "All I know is that I like being around you and being with you. I don't want to be friends — I want to be your boyfriend."

"Are you sure that it's not because I'm so insufferable adorable?" Yuma asked with a laugh, causing the other to bashfully glance down at the ground. "You don't have to be scared. Tell me how you feel."

"I'm just scared that I've been annoying and you don't like me back."

"It's annoying that you think that."

The two stopped walking, cheeks pink with their sweet, little love. Taki eventually mustered up the courage to reach between them, linking his hands with Yuma's. "I'm sorry for being weirdly persistent."

"I quite enjoy being loved, Takayama-kun," Yuma smiled. "So tell me how you feel."

"I like you a lot, Yuma."

"More than when I wear that stupid dress?"

"Oh, the maid outfit just made you cuter," Taki laughed, lifting a hand to hold Yuma's cheek. "You're the first boy I've ever liked. I'm... I'm glad you feel the same."

"So are you going to kiss me or not?" Yuma asked with his signature toothy grin. Taki slowly leaned forward, gently pressing his lips to Yuma's cheek. Yuma frowned, punching Taki's arm in disappointment. "What was that?!"

"I want to kiss you in front of everyone so that they know that I'm dating the prettiest boy in the whole school."

"You're prettier than me."

Taki gently wrapped his arms around Yuma's waist to hold him close. "I'm glad you like me back, Yuma. You'd really be the boyfriend of a weirdo that likes seeing boys wear dresses?"

Yuma slowly withdrew from the hug with a frown. "Uh... we can talk about that later..."
