August POV
Did he just say two?!?! I think he just said two?! I can't believe this right now! I mean I know on our wedding day I played around with Tee saying we should get two done at one time, but I was just playing! I didn't know she would actually get pregnant with twins. I didn't even know either one of us had the twin gene in our families. I looked at Tee and then mama cause all three of us were in shock.
Me: this ain't real.
Tee: trust me baby, it's real. Remember what you said " why take it one at somewhere we can get two down at once."
Me: I know what I said Tee! But how come we didn't know sooner, how come we're just now finding this out when she's about to give birth!
I looked at this doctor and he sighed.
Doc: that's the bad news. Sometimes during a pregnancy if there is more than one, one baby sometimes tend to move in front of the other, blocking the view, so technically one baby has been blocking the other for the entire pregnancy.
Tee: how is that bad?
Doc: I'm getting there. See since one of the babies has moved in front of the other, so has it's umbilical cord.
I tensed I knew exactly what he ment now.
Mama: go on.
Doc: so the umbilical cord has found its way around one of the babies neck and it's struggling to breath.
My heart stopped beating for a minute.literally. Tee was completely still and mama started crying.
Doc: I know it seems horrible, but it happens often as bad as it may seem. We need you to stay as calm as possible though, because one baby is ready to come out and as long as the umbilical cord is wrapped around the other, when it pulls it pulls harder around the baby's neck.
Tee squeezed my hand tighter and I grabbed mama to keep her from passing out. This is too much. I don't want to lose my child.
Me: so what do you have to do?
Doc: we have to do a c-section quickly.
Me: how quickly ?
Doc: like if we don't get both babies out in less than 45 minutes............one will die.
Mama cried harder and Tee stayed surprisingly completely calm.
Tee: let's go.
The doctor nodded and called for more nurses to come in and I was beyond nervous. The nurses rushed me and Tee out of the room and Mama was left crying. I wish I could have calmed her down but right now one of my babies lives were on the line. They rushed us into this surgery room and after that it was completely............SCARY.
45 MINUTES TO AN HOUR LATER.
We heard the cries of both of the girls and my heart melted. Not only did I have one, but now I have two baby girls. They both came out completely healthy and both weighed a lot. Lets not forget that they both look absolutely gorgeous....like their mother. Oh, and the eyes. Those hazel eyes. I looked at the people cleaning them off and wrapping them in blankets and then I heard Tee whisper to me.
Tee: babe?
I looked down at her on the table.
Me: yeah baby?
Tee: do the girls look like me or you?
I chuckled.
Me: you, hands down.
She smiled while her eyes began to get droopy. I looked at her and thought about how much in love with her I really am. Not only did she give my son, she gave me my first daughters, and I'm so greatful for that everyday.
Nurse: okay mama & daddy? Would you like to hold your baby girls?
I looked at Tee and I could tell she was jumping for joy. We finally had it all.
They gave each one of us our daughters and I was instantly attached. I never thought I could feel the way I felt when I held both of them. The doctor came back in with a nurse so we could sign the birth certificates and the names.
Nurse: congratulations.
We both said thanks in unison.
Doc: now here comes the fun part. Naming your new baby girls.
I looked at them both who were now in my arms.
Me: umm, if you don't mind me asking which one of them was the one whose life was on the line?
He tensed and pointed to my daughter on the left.
Doc: she was, but I'm glad she made it through.
I looked at her and a tear slipped.
Me: her name is Hope. Hope Elsie Alsina.
Tee smiled.
Nurse: and the one on the right?
I looked at my daughter on the right and I had no clue what we should name her. I looked down at her while her eyes we looking at me and boy were they beautiful, they were the most beautiful eyes I had ever seen. I looked at Tee.
Me: babe?
Tee: I think we should name her Hazel. Hazel Elizabeth Alsina.
I smiled. Perfect.
Doc: beautiful.
I smiled. All my girls are here, finally here.
Before they left they stitched Tee back up and took the girls for some quick check ups before bringing them back to us. It was around 7 in the morning and news had got around quick that me and Tee had twin girls and everybody was blowing up both of our phones, asking us how we didn't know there was two of them and are they healthy and did they look like me or Tee more. It was just hectic, but now I have brought two more kids in the world and this time their girls, so I'm damn sure going to be hella protective,if I wasn't as much then. The girls were asleep and Tee was fighting back sleep, and I was tired too. I went to her side and kissed her forehead.
Me: I love you so much.
Tee: I love you too.
Me: no, really I love you so much, thank you for bringing my babies into the world.
She smiled.
Tee: your welcome. I couldn't have done it with out your amazing sex though.
I smirked.
Me: you'll have more of that when this six week period is up, now go to sleep gorgeous.
She laughed.
Tee: okay baby.
I kissed her forehead again and she fell asleep. I laid on the couch and I couldn't sleep, I looked at the girls and after staring at them for a while I picked both of them up and laid them in my arms.
Me: Welcome to the world babies.
I kissed both of them and fell asleep.
