Goku and Gohan soared through the sky, making their way back to their home on Mount Paozu. The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm palette of colors across the landscape. As they approached the familiar house, Goku's stomach growled again, eliciting a chuckle from Gohan.

Once inside, the atmosphere changed. The serene surroundings of Y/n's village were replaced by a tense air at home. Chi-Chi, standing with her arms crossed, greeted them with an icy glare.

"Goku! Gohan! Do you have any idea what time it is?" she scolded, her voice sharp.

Goku scratched his head sheepishly. "Well, Chi-Chi, you see, we were with this incredible fighter named Y/n, and—"

But before Goku could finish, Chi-Chi's frustration boiled over. "Another fighter? How many fighters do you need in your life, Goku? You're always off training or meeting new people! What about your family?"

Gohan tried to intervene, "Mom, it's not like that. Y/n is just a friend we met at the lookout, the other week. She's really strong, and we thought it would be fun to spar with her."

Chi-Chi's eyes narrowed, her tone becoming accusatory. "A female friend, huh? Is that what you've been doing all day, hanging out with another woman?"

Gohan, always honest, nodded. "Yes, Mom. Y/n is a fighter from a village near Korin's Tower. We just sparred a bit and had some food. Nothing more, I promise."

Chi-Chi's face turned crimson with anger. Without warning, she grabbed a plate and hurled it at Goku's head, the ceramic shattering on impact. Goku winced, rubbing his head.

Gohan's eyes welled up with tears. He hadn't meant to upset his mother, and her reaction caught him off guard.

Chi-Chi, still seething, pointed at Goku. "Clean up this mess! I can't believe you'd spend the day with another woman while I'm here taking care of the house."

Goku, realizing the gravity of the situation, sighed. "Chi-Chi, I'm sorry. It wasn't my intention to upset you. Gohan and I just wanted to have a good time together."

Chi-Chi huffed and stormed out of the house, muttering about neglect and training taking precedence over family.

Goku turned to Gohan, regret in his eyes. "Gohan, I'm sorry. I didn't think it would upset your mom so much."

Gohan wiped away a tear. "It's okay, Dad. I just didn't expect her to react like that."

Goku pulled Gohan into a hug. "I should've been more considerate. Listen, why don't you eat what you can, and then you can do whatever you want for the evening, alright?"

Gohan nodded, appreciating his dad's attempt to make things right. As Goku began cleaning up the broken plate, Gohan couldn't shake the feeling of guilt. Deep down, he wished his training and time with Y/n hadn't caused such turmoil at home. Nevertheless, the bond with his father remained strong, and the evening held the promise of a quiet reconciliation between them.

Later that night, as Goku and Gohan sat together in the dimly lit living room, a heavy silence lingered. The events of the evening weighed on both of them. Gohan fidgeted with his hands, unsure of how to breach the topic that had been bothering him for a while.

"Dad," Gohan began tentatively, "do you ever feel like Mom doesn't want you to have friends or train anymore?"

Goku looked at Gohan with a contemplative expression. He sighed before responding, "Well, Gohan, your mom has always been worried about me getting hurt. She doesn't understand the thrill of fighting like we do. But it's not easy for her, taking care of the house and everything, especially when I'm away for long periods."
