Y/n walked through the bustling streets of the city, her mind still lingering on the events at the lookout. Gohan had been so downcast, and she couldn't shake the feeling that something deeper was troubling him.
As she tried to retrace the path they had taken earlier, she quickly realized she was lost. Frustration began to bubble up inside her.
"Ugh, why didn't I pay more attention?" Y/n muttered to herself, glancing around at the unfamiliar surroundings.
Determined to find her way, she spotted a cozy-looking restaurant on the corner. The warm lights spilling out onto the sidewalk seemed inviting, so she decided to head inside and ask for directions.
As she stepped into the restaurant, a friendly hostess greeted her with a smile. "Welcome! Table for one?"
Y/n shook her head. "Actually, I was hoping you could help me with something. I'm trying to find the way west out of the city, but I seem to have gotten turned around."
The hostess nodded understandingly. "Sure, I can help with that. Let me write down the directions for you."
Y/n watched as the hostess began scribbling down instructions on a piece of paper. While she waited, her ears perked up at the sound of a conversation taking place a few tables away.
She hadn't been paying much attention at first, but something caught her ear—two people, a man and a woman, discussing something that sounded oddly familiar.
"So, what's our plan after the tournament?" the man asked, his voice low and secretive.
The woman replied with a sigh. "We'll have enough money to move to another country. Goku's too clueless to notice anything anyway."
Y/n's heart skipped a beat at the mention of Goku's name. She forced herself to remain calm, pretending to be focused on the directions the hostess was writing.
"What about Gohan?" the man asked, his tone laced with concern.
The woman's voice grew colder. "I don't really care anymore. I've been pushing him to study all this time, but I'm tired of trying. It's not my problem anymore."
The man hesitated, his voice uncertain. "I don't know, Chi-Chi... that sounds kind of heartless."
Y/n's breath caught in her throat. Chi-Chi? Could this really be Goku's wife? She discreetly glanced over in the direction of the voices, trying to catch a glimpse of the couple without drawing attention to herself.
The hostess handed Y/n the directions, pulling her out of her thoughts. "Here you go! This should get you back on track."
"Thank you," Y/n said, forcing a smile as she took the paper. She moved toward the door, her ears still tuned to the conversation behind her.
"Oh well," Chi-Chi said with a shrug, her voice filled with a shocking lack of concern. She glanced around the restaurant as if sensing someone's gaze, her eyes narrowing slightly when she looked in Y/n's direction.
Y/n quickly turned and pushed the door open, stepping out onto the sidewalk. As the door swung shut behind her, she heard Chi-Chi's voice again, this time tinged with suspicion.
"Did you see that girl? Do you think she was listening to us?"
The man, who Y/n now realized was Yamcha, chuckled nervously. "I didn't even know there was a girl there."
Y/n hurried down the street, her mind racing. The directions were crumpled in her hand as she tried to process what she had just heard. Was that really Goku's wife? It had to be—who else would talk about Goku and Gohan like that? But the way Chi-Chi had spoken, so detached and indifferent, didn't match the person Y/n had heard so much about.
