Chapter 23: Meeting Mustard

Began writing this before the SV dlc dropped

Altyrei's POV

"Snarl!" I commanded my Zigzagoon who let out a loud cry towards the two Galarian Slowpoke

Right now, me and Gloria were dragged into a double battle with Klara and Avery who despite hating each other, they have decent teamwork

I was using my Zigzagoon while Gloria was battling with her Rookidee using her Hone Claws Power Trip combo

It wasnt long before both opposing Slowpoke went down from exhaustion which made both their trainers pissed

"Urrrgh... Damn it, if I wasnt being dragged down by this nerd I wouldve sweeped the floor with these two"

"You dare accuse me for our lost you vile woman?"

Our group continued to watch the two of them bicker before eventually a voice from behind us spoke

"Are you two fighting each other outside the dojo again?"

Everyone turned to see a woman stand by the door

She seemed surprised to see a large group of people standing outside, mean while the two seemed to not have noticed or heard her

"Oh, we have visitors, pardon my rudeness"

She started before adding

"Please ignore those two, why don't all of you come in?"

"KEEP OUT OF THIS!!"

Both of them yelled angrily before becoming scared at who they yelled at

"Matron Honey, we didn't realize you were there!" Avery said, while getting on his knees

"We're sorry for being loud, it won't happen again!" Klara added, doing the same pose as Avery

The woman didn't say anything and continued to smile at the two

"Anyways, right this way"

Awkwardly, we all made our way inside the dojo, I did a respectful bow as I entered and removed my footwear before getting on the tatami mats

The others copied me and entered respectfully into the dojo

Inside there was the tatami ring for sparring and training, to the right was a lounge area with a big screen tv with a switch console that had the pokemon quest paused

To the left was the dining area with large pots on stoves probably to feed every student in the dojo

Across us was a door that led to another part of the dojo

"Welcome to the Isle of Armor Dojo, the sensei is currently at the back training with his pokemon"

The woman officially greeted us

"My name is Honey, I'm the wife of the sensei and matron of this dojo, I mostly handle the housework here"

She then looked at our group and was silently sizing us up

"I'm guessing you two are gym challengers?" She pointed to me and Gloria who nodded

"Yeah, we were hoping to get stronger before we take on the next gym" Gloria explained

Matron Honey let out a hmm as she heard Gloria

"I see... I'll ask my husband if he'll agree to train you two, in the meantime, why don't all of you sit and relax for a bit"

With that she went through the sliding door to what I assumed was the back of the dojo and our group all relaxed at the lounge area

"This place is amazing...." Moon commented "I wonder what kind of training they do around here?"

"I'm guess judo or karate based on the equipment they have here" I answered off-handedly

The group seemed surprised I answered them

"I went to a few back home so I have an idea of what some of these stuff are" I explained

"That also explains why you bowed before entering this place" Lillie added

"So does this mean you know martial arts Altyrei?" Moon asked "Can you teach me some?"

Lillie did a karate chop on Moon's head "You have a condition now, remember?"

Moon just chuckled

Before I could answer though, the matron came back followed by and old man wearing a teal jacket

"Are these our guests?" He asked the matron

"Yes, and these two are the gym challengers"

The old man looked at me and Gloria tilted his head and turned back to his wife

"Sadly, I can only train one of them" he said

He then turned to look at me

"That girl over there already belongs to another dojo"

I was shocked he managed to guess that

"Apologies, my name is Mustard, I am the sensei of this dojo, I overheard your conversation a bit as I walked here, may I ask which dojo you hail from?" He asked me

I hesistated to answer him

"You don't have to answer if..."

"The Fukuzawa Dojo" I cut him off

Silence followed "I see... then all the more reason why I cannot train her"

Moon raised her hand "What about me? Can I train here?"

She received another karate chop from Lillie

Mustard chuckled before answering "Aren't you already strong enough to be a champion?"

"Wow! You can tell I'm a champion!?"

"I used to be one little missy, I know a fellow champion when I see one" he laughed

"Anyways, do you want to enroll in this dojo?" Mustard asked Gloria

"No" Gloria said flat out

".... is it because I refuse to train her?" Mustard questioned

"She's my rival and I want both of us to get stronger together"

Mustard contemplated her words

"Umm... Gloria, its alright I don't need to get my training here..."

"No... I won't accept it"

"Can you please listen for a second?" I half yelled at her

"She's already affliated with another dojo, she can't just start training in another one without getting permission from her previous one" Mustard explained "Also, I do not mind if you teach her what you learn in this dojo"

"...Oh I thought you were just being a stingy old man" Gloria apologized

"That being said, I need to test you before you can officially enroll here" Mustard said

"Thats with a battle... correct?" Gloria asked with excitement

Mustard sinply nodded

Ending there for a bit, got a good haul from christmas and new years also played the Indigo disk dlc and got an idea on what kind of story I would make

Just going to say it now, but I love Lacey and am considering making her a potential love interest for the mc
