The sphinx chased after Nami. "You shall stop!" the sphinx yelled, her more slender frame helping her catch up with the orcadragon.

"Leave me alone!" Nami shouted back and skidded while she turned right. Her eyes moved in a frenzy to find more passages that would make the sphinx lose her tail. "I'm not dealing with your riddles."

"So you juggle your life instead?" the sphinx's claws scrapped against the rock as she too hurled herself right, taking a moment to pounce in an attempt to stop Nami, but just missed as the orcadragon lifted her tail in the nick of time. "People get lost! They get stuck down here! If I don't know where you guide yourself, then I cannot alter the walls to appeal to your safety."

"But there will always still be a way out, right?" Nami panted, and the sphinx went silent during their chase. "HAH! That's what I thought!"

The Sphinx growled, her tail flicking, and she worked to speed up. Jumping off the walls anytime the orcadragon took a turn. Keeping right on her heels. "You are being foolish!"

Nami shook her head, her body gradually wearing out. Her physique had been designed to cut through water, not to sprint and less so to make such risky turns. If she put down her tail at all now, the sphinx would be able to take hold of it. If she was forced back to the middle of the island, she wondered if she would be brought forth to RaUrsa, seeing as this too was a sphinx.

"You must come back with-" and before the sphinx could finish her sentence, Nami heard a loud bang behind her. She skidded as she turned her head over her shoulder, seeing a wall there instead of a passage. "Orcadragon!" the sphinx yelled through the wall. Nami hopped in place and decided to keep moving again. "Stay where you are! I can move this! It is dangerous."

Another bang, and another. Each closing up behind Nami, making the second voice drown away. She didn't stop for a time though, seeing as the sphinx could maneuver the walls herself. Nami only halted when she stepped down and felt her entire body rotate as a section of the floor turned her about, forcing her a different directly.

"Sphinx!" she belted, assuming the woman had caught her, but only silence followed. "Hello!?" Nami moved again, slowly, her breathing heaving in and out of her. When she found that no footfalls sounded and she certainly had been left alone, Nami stopped, leaned against the cool wall, and slid to the ground.

Her legs felt like jelly. Her wings fully limp as she had unknowingly tensed them the entire race. She knew her rest had to be short, however it would be enough. Tinges of concern ticked at Nami. Finding a way out before she starved would be the first order of business. Whether that was inside or outside the island, she didn't care.

"Hah..." Nami laughed similar to how she did during the sprint, although much more quiet and far more fearful. "I am foolish. This was foolish." If all the walls could change and room were able to spin around at will, then how would she be able to free herself? Nevertheless, after her heart had finally stopped racing, she got up, and began to move again. Knowing full well that if she didn't give it a chance, only then would she have no chance.

The bottom side of her tail dragged along the ground. Dirty the light-tan skin. She felt lucky enough to be quite comfortable in the temperature, given she was used to frigid waters. She went on for a good forty-five minutes. Taking random turns, sometimes deciding to only go straight, and overall, bit by bit losing that hope.

She stopped again, placed a hand on a wall, exhaled deeply, and no sooner let out a, "Eep!!" as her entire body lurched to the side where the wall had moved. She fell on her shoulder, winced as she got up and rubbed it. "Yowch--"

"Haven't seen anyone around in these parts for some time," a voice let out and Nami nearly slipped back to the ground as she heard him.

Nami quickly straightened her back, remembered how to speak, and opened with, "Well, it hasn't been a while since I've seen anyone, but good to meet you all the same." She got up, rotated her arm and looked to the voice. She didn't want to appear overly excited, but truly her heart raced with relief.

Another Sphinx. She frowned. Although, this one must be a halfer. He was tall, almost triangular in shape. He almost reminded her of an anubis as he had pointed cat-like ears that stretched straight upwards. The giveaway with him being a sphinx were his wings and lion tail. "I never thought a sphinx would be so willing to mate with a human."

"Yeah, same. That's probably what landed me in the depths of the island. A mother too proud to show her kin, but too loving to send him away." His features were dark, while his human skin a deep tan, similar to the fur of most sphinxes.

Nami took a moment to veer her eyes from him to her surroundings. Now it felt completely like her den, with some modern twists. A section of the caverns were dedicated to what seemed to be his living space. Most of his furniture made of stone with cushions from the mainland. A fire in the corner, and different spaces that appeared to leave to different rooms.

"You're a prisoner then? You can't get out of here?"

"No, I can get out," he gestured to his surroundings. "I leave occasionally to gather up food and supply. I am a sphinx after all. I can alter walls. The time I'm allowed on the surface is limited though." He turned his head to Nami, looked her over and raised a brow. "My name is Euclid, may I have yours."

"Nami. So does that mean you'd be able to make a path on the outside of the island?" the orcadragon immediately cut to the chase. "Would you be willing to guide me out of here?"

"I could. I can. I will, except with certain trade," Euclid answered. "It is a long journey though. I do not think you realize how deep you are in. Night comes near and a tired sphinx shoving walls open and closed is well, not the most safest thing. I also would like to ask-"

"Do you have food?"

"Uh..." Euclid raised a brow, looked side-to-side, more than befuddled by her directness, "what do you think I eat?"

"Good. I'll stay for a meal and then we can be on our way. Plenty of rest." Nami ventured further inside.

"I shall need you to stay longer. Might I add that-"

"I haven't eaten in probably twenty-four hours, so something with protein would be preferred." Nami sat down in his makeshift couch. Finding it surprisingly comfortable.

"Nami, we need to go over-"

Nami snapped her fingers. "Come on. We need to be quick. There is another sphinx on my tail and-" before Nami could finish this time, the wall she came through slammed shut.

"Quiet!" Euclid spoke stern and darted his golden eyes toward her. "Are you so unaware of your situation? Do you not know you are soon to be in heat?"

"Excuse you?" Nami snapped back and leaned forward in her seat.

"Neither of us will be excused. Not for some time. I am an ancient. I have senses beyond your understanding and I know where you are when it comes to being in heat. I offer freedom to anyone who enters my quarters, but only after we've mated. As it appears you will soon be ready for offspring, you shall not be here long. And I shall be glad to guide you out of the island, especially someone as disrespectful as you." Euclid placed his hands behind his back and leaned forward. "Enjoy your stay. I will prepare food. I have to be certain my mate has plenty of energy."

Nami's bottom jaw gradually fell slack. He was well-spoken. Enough that she almost wasn't catching on to what he was alluding to. Not even alluding. He straight up told her that they are to mate. "Wait...wait," she said and peered back to the wall she'd come through. "If I had... this.. is this a trick?"

"Not a trick. And I don't give riddles like the other sphinxes do. I am kind and straightforward. However, I do participate in my mother's wish to garnish the world in ancients once more. When you are in heat, especially around a male, you will want to perform such acts for offspring. I shall gladly mate with a dragon no less. Though I do hope you teach them better in manners once you return to the mainland."

"Mother..." Nami mumbled. Sure, it'd be wise to assume that most sphinxes came from her. Considering how ancient and ancient could get though, it'd also be infer that most were great, great, great, grandchildren or another. "She's your mother."

"It was only around thirty years ago that she took great interest in mating with a human. And here I am, around for twenty-eight, with a might regret from the ever wise RaUrsa. I suppose some halfers don't have the absolute need to mate due to the human side. I am, technically, one of them. So I must prove my worthiness to her and mate with every possible female that comes my way since I've come to age. And you would be my...hmm. eighteenth."
