6. Must Be A Sign

"Are you boys alright?"

"I love you." Luke answered instead. Sera reached out a gentle hand and cupped his cheek.

"My sweet luke." Sera answered. Luke tipped his head into her touch.

"Mother is going to make us go home." Luke realized. "We didnt get enough time together!"

"I will come and visit soon." Sera assured as luke hugged her. Sera relaxed into him. Luke was a charming boy. Handsome like his true father and just as sweet.

"Its not the same you always leave," luke whispered. "And we will be... wed." He felt sick at the word.

"You will be a good husband. A great husband. You will treat your bride right." Sera remarked kissing the top of his head.

"I dont love her." Luke corrected quickly.

"Time to go." Daemon demanded coming into the hallway. "Now. Move it."

"What?" Luke whined. "We cant! Now? We cant!"

"Why exactly cant we?" Daemon pondered staring down at him.

"Because- because- because-" luke looked to Jace for help.

"Luke promised to tell Jadyn a story." Sera cut in. "She will be in a proper fit if he leaves before her story time." Luke nodded eagerly in agreement.

"One story. Make it quick." Daemon agreed.

"Seraphina." Rhaenyra reached out for her, holding delicately to her hand. "Thank you."

"No idea what you mean." Sera mused before heading off arm in arm with luke.

"Mama!" Jadyn and Robert declared pulling themselves up.

"I knew you wouldnt be asleep." Sera added moving to their cribs and picking them up one at a time. Robert moved to luke staring back at him undecided before moving back to sera pulling on her dress skirts. Sera bent down running a hand through his hair. He mumbled into her. "I know baby. I know. I brought you the sweetest friend for story time." Jadyn waddled to get a book throwing it at luke before falling into his lap. "Such a liitle flirt." Sera mused. Luke smiled sheepishly back at Sera as she reached out running a hand through Jadyn's little tuffs. Sera went to check on Renly, her little Romeo was fast asleep. She moved back to the twins room and Luke was reading scarlet dragon to Robert. Robert still didnt know about Luke, he kept a weary eye on him as he pointed at the pictures. Sera sat down beside them on the floor and Robert quickly climbed into her lap pulling at the book. 

"Oh you want mama to read it?" Sera questioned. Robert nodded. "Can I read it with Luke, Robbie? What do you think?" He shrugged snuggling into her. Luke ready a page and Sera read the next, Robert helped them turn the pages as Jadyn snored softly in Lukes lap. Sera smiled back at Luke as he traced a finger down Jadyn's arm. 

"And they lived happily ever after, but there was always another adventure for Scarlet and her friends waiting around the corner." Sera read off before Robbie closed up the book poking at the back page. Sera was leaned into Luke enjoying this closeness as Robbie yawned out. She got up carefully and put him back to bed. 

"Do you think we could talk about that kiss?" Luke questioned as Sera picked Jadyn up. 

"I didn't mean to embarrass you." Sera remarked quickly

"No. Not that. You didnt." He assured. "I liked it a lot." He added. "But... why did you?"

"Because i like you and i wanted to." Sera offered. Luke liked that answer. "I will see you soon, Luke, I will make sure of it." Sera declared hugging him. "You are the sweetest boy alive."

"And you are perfect." LUke answered. Sera smiled down at him, kissing him gently once more, he leaned into her and his eyes pleaded with her for another kiss when she pulled away. 

"I will visit soon, I promise." Sera assured with that Luke was begrudgingly off.

"Are they gone?" Aemond questioned.

"Yeah." Sera agreed leaning against the doorframe. "And you thought it was a good idea to summon me?" Aemond looked up at her.

"Yeah." He mused standing up. "You are right you know."

"I usually am." Sera agreed calmly. "About what are you referring to?"

"My mother."

"Ahh yes. Alicent is a fine woman but you her precious baby-"

"I do everything I can to show im not to be coddled. I train harder study longer. Im not a child but she still sees me as a baby. Her baby."

"And unfortunately for you she always will."

"You think?"

"Duh. You are the baby of the family." Sera agreed. "She preserved you like a winter rose."

"I shouldnt have made a scene at supper." Aemond admitted softly.

"Thats big of you to admit," sera informed him as she pushed off the wall taking a step closer. "You are not a bad guy you just have a bad temper when it comes to Rhaenyras boys. Just like your mother and grandfather." Sera assured.

"I pity aegon the day you punch him." Aemond added, his one eyed gaze meeting hers.

"You keep getting hit today. Must be a sign," sera mused as she turned around.

"A sign of what?"

"That you are turning into your brother." Sera called back. Aemond deadpanned.

"Not funny!"
