Christmas Rivals

Not with the ringing of trumpets gold,
But by simple shepherds was the story told.

How a little boy in a manger of hay
Would be the One to show the Way.

He came to cleanse the world of sin,
And give us a chance to begin again.

But now another story has come to light
To tempt us away from what is right.

Santa claims he knows who's bad or good,
And promises rewards if we live as we should.

Just as God has promised from above
For all of those He truly loves.

Two invisible guides,
Trying to show us how to live our lives.

And if we surrender to worldly charms,
After all, what's the harm?

If we bring into the Church what isn't true,
The terrible harm we may never undo.

Only Christ is truly right.
Only He grants eternal life.

And this is why we celebrate Christ this day,
And not some fat guy in a sleigh.

We should never teach a lie,
But hold to truth until we die.

And to the truth we shall hold,
Stand tall, courageous, and bold.

Let the halls of Heaven ring,
Hail to Jesus Christ, the One true King!
