Mike was unsure about this.
He convinced the other parents it was a good idea because, to be fair, it was a pretty good idea.
It's just, he didn't think it was safe with just one person looking after these kids, let alone, Mike of all people.
"No, I don't want to go!"
Mike stood up, he was sitting on his bed in his room, contemplating life.
The kids were downstairs setting up in the loungeroom, he told them he'd be back in a second.
He could do this.
He could do this.
The murderer couldn't get inside.
They had security.
It would be fine.
---
"Alright who wants PIZZA?" Mike clapped his hands together as he entered the lounge. The kids had set up mattresses and blankets and were prepared to hang out (mournfully) all night.
"I mean, I could go for some pepperoni, I guess," Jeremy mumbled; the others quietly agreed.
There was an ongoing investigation at Freddy's which was the main pizza place in Hurricane so it was temporarily closed meaning they had to get some from one of the many other small competitors. After calling up the place ('Chucky Cheese' was the name), the group sat in silence while they waited. It would've only been a couple minutes but it felt like hours.
*DING DONG*
Michael could not have gotten up faster. He walked over to the door while opening his wallet. Looking inside he sighed; dad never was one to share the wealth with his kids. Still scrounging through his wallet he opened the door.
Mike looked up, 50 dollar bill in hand, expecting to see your average, run of the mill pizza boy, but instead it was a face he hadn't seen in almost a decade.
"Uh, hi," The man started, "I know this is odd but listen-"
"Mike, is that the pizza?" Elizabeth yelled through the house.
"Uh, no, just... just stay put I'll be there in a second!"
Mike turned back to the man, "Now, you better start talking or else you'll be getting off my father's porch,"
---
The way Mike said that, it was... odd. Elizabeth and the others were all sitting on mattresses and couches in the lounge waiting for Mike to come back.
Among the others, Evan was fidgeting to himself, Cassidy was staring out the window leading to the back yard and Jeremy was looking at the Afton's extensive collection of VHSs.
"Hey, Mike should be back by now, right?" Liz questioned Evan.
"I don't know," He replied.
"Woah, you guys have everything," Jeremy exclaimed, "Friday the 13th, Halloween, Black Christmas,"
"Yeah I guess so," Elizabeth said; she never liked talking about her money.
"You know what? This is just like one of those slasher movies," Jeremy began.
"JEREMY!?" Charlie yelped in shock and anger, "What the hell?"
"No no no, hear me out," Jeremy continued, "You know how whenever you watch one of these movies you always think 'Oh my god, the main character is so stupid' 'Why did she run up the stairs?' 'What did they trip on?' and stuff like that?"
There were confused nods throughout the room; Jeremy was now standing in view of everyone in front of the TV.
"Yeah well we're basically living in one at this point, a kinda boring one, I'll say; not much gore,"
"JEREMY!?!?"
"No no no, but if we're living in one, there's gonna be rules, so um, RULE NUMBER ONE! No having sex, alcohol, or drugs, you will die, but hey, we're all good kids, right?" He eyed Evan jokingly, "RULE NUMBER TWO! The killer is always a part of the first victim's friend group, you got that right guys?" He pointed to each of them accusingly.
"I don't think any of us are the 'Ghost Face' Jerem-" Gabriel started to say before being cut off.
"AND RULE NUMBER THREE! Never trust the love interest..."
---
Michael could practically see the purple bonnie mask sitting on the man's face.
"Why are you here Matt?"
"Listen Mike, I know we haven't talked ever since 'The Bite'"
Memories flashed through Michael's mind.
"Wow, your brother's kind of a baby, isn't he?"
"But I heard what was happening and was wondering if you needed help with anything,"
"Oh, trust me Matt, you are the LAST person I would want help from,"
"Oh what, just because of a little screw-up eight years ago I can't help you when you need it?"
"A LITTLE SCREW-UP?! My brother was in the ER for MONTHS after that!"
"Yeah, but he got better-"
"BETTER! He has scars, both physical and emotional, from that day! I can't even look at him the same anymore!"
"Jeez, calm down, it was your idea," Matt mumbled.
"It was not 'my idea', sure maybe I was the one who told John and Riley, but it was your idea," Michael had been holding this in all this time, "You were the one who told me to do it, you were the one who said it'd be funny to put his head in the robot's mouth,"
"I didn't know his head would be crushed!"
"I told you not to mess with him, I said we should dive him a break, it was his birthday, but you insisted,"
"I-"
"Get lost, Matt,"
Matt turned and got in his car to leave. Not even five seconds after Matt left around the street corner, another car turned onto the street; it was the pizza.
The car parked outside the house with Mike still at the door. The delivery guy got out carrying four boxes.
Mike paid for the pizzas and went inside.
---
None of the kids noticed Mike come back until he dropped the four pizzas onto the coffee table in the lounge.
"Here's the pizzas," he told them before taking a slice and heading to the stairs, "Don't do anything stupid,"
Michael walked up the stairs and back into his room; he was done for the night. After finishing his slice of pizza he walked over to his closet. He opened the door and grabbed a box from the top shelf. Inside it was the very same foxy mask he wore all those years ago.
He picked up the mask and brushed off the dust.
Mike just held it in his hands for a while, remembering.
