"Ok kids, when we're gone, you need to be careful, and safe, I don't want any of you to get hurt," Mike told the younger group of teens before leaving.

It was noon and Michael was being dragged along to the hospital by two hormonal teenage girls to see their friend who had a murder attempted on them; this was not what he had wanted to do on his Friday. He shouldn't have even been taking them anywhere, they should've gone to school. Not only that but he was also leaving a bunch of 15 and 16 year-olds alone after they have been chased by a murderer. So yeah, it wasn't the best day Mike was having. Regardless, they just wanted to see their friend and Mike didn't want to be mean, so the hospital it was.

The drive was long and as it went on, Michael became more and more unsure if this was the right move; leaving four teens home alone is a bad idea. He tried to shake the feeling of dread that began to creep up on him. He couldn't go back now anyway even if he wanted to, he was only a few minutes from the hospital.

By the time they had arrived, Michael had made up his mind, it would be a short visit then they'd all go back home.

The group entered the automatic sliding doors and walked up to the counter. There was a middle-aged women working as the receptionist, she looked tired.

"Name?"

"Oh, we're just visiting," Michael told her.

"Name of patient you are visiting?" the receptionist seemed like she had gone through this many times.

"Uhh...?" Mike looked towards the girls.

"Fritz Smith," Elizabeth piped up, "He has a stab wound,"

"Ok, sign here and go to room 80, twelfth floor,"

"Twelve floors is a lot," Cassidy whispered.

The group went over to the elevator; they weren't walking up twelve floors. The elevator had sleek metal doors and reflective walls, creating an endless pattern of Michaels, Elizabeths, and Cassidys.

When the elevator stopped, the trio got out and began to wander down the twelfth floor. After passing a few rooms, they finally made it to Fritz's. Cassidy held open the door for Michael and Elizabeth before entering herself. Elizabeth immediately went rushing over to Fritz, followed by Cassidy; Mike stayed by the door.

"Oh my god Fritz!" Elizabeth cheered, "I missed you!"

"Hey Liz," Fritz replied, wincing a little as he tried to wave, "Hi Cassidy,"

The two girls stood by Fritz's bed as he slowly sat up.

"I missed you guys," he told them, "I almost thought I wouldn't see you again,"

"It's okay, we're here," Elizabeth reassured him, "It'll be okay,"

Fritz suddenly got more serious.

"Did they... did they end up catching him; the 'ghost face'?"

Liz and Cassidy looked at each other.

"No, he got away," Cassidy told Fritz, "But I'm sure they will,"

"I was so scared, Cassidy," Fritz started to cry a little, "I thought I would die,"

"You'll be alright," Cassidy comforted him.

"I'm going to go find a vending machine," Michael interrupted, "do you guys want anything?"

"No thank you," Liz told him, Cassidy shook her head.

Mike left the room to find a vending machine, god he needed gum. As he walked through the hospital he thought about what he heard. This situation was serious, people are really getting affected by it. He knew that Susie had died but hearing that from Fritz sounded way more... real.

He found a vending machine and bought a stick of mint chewing gum.

Fritz is going to have scars front this, both physical and emotional. Michael hadn't really realised how serious it was. He shouldn't have left the kids at home. This wasn't the first time Michael was blind-sighted to the consequences of his actions. He still heard the crying sometimes. He absolutely shouldn't have left the kids at home, they had to get back immediately.

Back in the hospital room, the trio were still talking.

"You know, there's something I need to tell you guys, and I don't think I could live with myself if I didn't tell you know," Fritz told them.

"You can tell us anything," Liz said, "We're here for you,"

"I've been thinking about this for a while and almost dying has made me realise that I need to tell someone,"

Cassidy and Elizabeth waited with bated breath.

"I'm gay,"

Cassidy looked as though she was about to say something before Michael walked into the room.

"Okay you two, did you have a good visit? Because it's time to leave,"

"Mike, what do you mean, we've only been here like, half an hour," Elizabeth asked, now up from the bed.

"I have duty of care over all those kids, their parents trusted me to take care of them, and I left them home alone, we need to get back,"

"Okay, well, bye," Liz said, waving to Fritz. Cassidy waved too.

As they all walked out the door, Michael thought about the whole reason he agreed to have the kids at his house. He wanted to keep them safe. Michael had a certain attachment to keeping kids safe, more so than others. He was trying to keep them safe. The trio got into the car to leave.

---

By the time they got home, Michael was just about ready to collapse into bed. They all walked up to the door and Michael unlocked it only to reveal an empty house.

"Hello?" Mike called out, "Guys?"

Suddenly Jeremy came around the corner holding a packet of chips.

"Oh, Jeremy, where's everyone else?" Mike asked.

Jeremy looked a little nervous.

"Well, you see, they, um. They kinda all went to the pizzeria,"

"WHAT?!"
